Upcoming Redmi Watch 5 packs an impressive display
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand is preparing to expand its smartwatch lineup with the imminent launch of the Redmi Watch 5 in China. The company has released a teaser image that offers a glimpse of the upcoming device, highlighting a few key specifications.
The teaser reveals a 2.07-inch high-brightness display, suggesting the watch will continue Redmi’s commitment to delivering visually appealing wearable devices. Equally compelling is the promised 24-day battery life, a feature that could set this watch apart in a market where battery endurance is increasingly important. Beyond that the device reminds visually of other watches in the range, but it has a crown on the right-hand side instead of a button.
Third iteration this year
Earlier this year, Redmi introduced two models that provide context for what we might expect from the new Watch 5. The Redmi Watch 5 Lite offers an impressive package for budget-conscious consumers. Featuring a large 1.96-inch AMOLED display with sharp resolution, the device stands out with its GNSS module – a rare inclusion at its price point. With over 140 training modes and 18 days of battery life, it represents excellent value for money.

The Redmi Watch 5 Active takes a slightly different approach, sporting a 2-inch LCD screen and running on HyperOS. This model emphasizes fitness capabilities with lots of sports modes and automatic activity recognition. Unique features like Alexa integration and Bluetooth calling set it apart from competitors in the budget smartwatch segment. Its water resistance and impressive 18-day battery performance under typical usage further enhance its appeal.
Details about the upcoming Redmi Watch 5 remain limited, but the device is likely to take on-board most of the features of the Lite and Active version. The China launch appears to be in the coming weeks when we will learn all the final details.
