Rogbid SR08 is the world’s first smart ring with a display

Rogbid is entering the wearable tech scene with a smart ring that, despite its somewhat clunky name, has some slick ideas. The SR08 Ultra sounds more like a password than a product, but it’s making a bold statement with its built-in OLED touch display. While most smart rings stick to quietly collecting data, this one’s stepping up with functionality that feels more smartwatch than smart ring.

Expanding the role of a smart ring

The highlight of the SR08 Ultra is its display, which stretches across a significant portion of the ring’s surface. This addition makes it more than a passive health tracker. Users can interact with the screen to view metrics and control connected devices with simple taps. Unlike the minimalist approach of rivals like the Oura Ring, Rogbid’s focus on direct usability sets it apart.

The SR08 Ultra packs a standard suite of health tracking features that we’ve come to expect these days from smart rings. This includes the ability to monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and steps, while also supporting activity modes like running, hiking, and cycling. Although it includes GPS for mapping workout routes, it relies on connected GPS, meaning it pairs with a smartphone to retrieve location data.

What’s unique here is the emphasis on making the smart ring a standalone tool. The inclusion of a screen not only lets it act as a fitness tracker but also transforms it into a wearable that can replace a traditional wristwatch. Rogbid clearly aims to broaden the smart ring’s appeal by making it more versatile without adding unnecessary bulk.

You’d think something like this would need to be charged often. But the manufacturer claims battery life of 5 days between charges. There is also a portable charging case which can refuel the thing 4-6 times.

Of course, the proof will be in the pudding. Although it does have the standard gamut of fitness sensors (and decent advertised battery life), we will reserve our opinion on the device until some hands-on reviews pop up.

Design and build

Moving on to design – and like most smart rings, this is a very lightweight device. It comes in at just 4 grams and a thickness of 2.5 millimeters. There are several size options to choose from.

The outer layer of the device is made of titanium for durability, while an epoxy resin interior ensures it feels smooth against the skin. The ring is rated for 5ATM water resistance, so its a true 24/7 device – no need to take it off your finger unless you are charging it.

The design looks premium enough in the promotional renders. Rogbid’s claims are clearly ambitious, but the overall package suggests a focus on creating something both functional and visually appealing.

Balancing affordability and innovation

What’s strange is the price. Available in a choice between black, silver and gold – at $89.99, the SR08 Ultra sits comfortably below the price of many of its competitors. Considering the device has a built-in display, you’d think it would be more expensive. Having said that, the company is currently running a promotion. The regular retail price according to the manufacturer’s website is $189.99.

I have to admit, I’m a bit skeptical about this smart ring. Rogbid, a China-based company, isn’t exactly a big name in tech. Founded in 2016, it says it has a presence in over 40 countries, and its motto, “Wear Me Embrace The World,” shows its goal of making quality wearables accessible to everyone. The brand focuses on mid-range products, delivering practical features at affordable prices instead of chasing luxury or flashy designs.

That said, Rogbid’s attempt to stir things up with the SR08 Ultra is a welcome one. With the smart ring market becoming increasingly crowded and many devices blending into the same mold, the question now is whether this ring can truly stand out—and maybe even raise the bar for what we expect from smart rings.

  • Now sold in the AliExpress app as a Xiaomi device and for a fraction of the price you quote.
