Amazfit Active 2 now available in Europe

The Amazfit Active 2 has now launched in Europe, following its initial release in the US a few weeks ago. While the standard version is available now, the Amazfit Active 2 Premium is expected to be made available soon. At the moment availability is marked as “sold out”.

A great value for money watch

In our hands-on review of the Amazfit Active 2 Premium, we found it to be a well-built smartwatch with a refined design and solid feature set. The Premium model sets itself apart with sapphire glass for added durability, an extra leather strap for a more stylish look, and NFC for contactless payments (though its functionality remains limited to Europe).

Meanwhile, the standard version uses tempered glass and only comes with a silicone strap. Both models share the same 1.32-inch AMOLED display, Zepp OS 4.5, and BioTracker PPG 6.0 sensor for health tracking.

What particularly impressed us os the reliable GPS performance, which works well for outdoor activities. The addition of offline maps is a welcome feature for runners and hikers who prefer not to rely on a phone for navigation. The watch’s battery life also impressed, lasting up to 10 days under normal use. However, some limitations are evident, such as the lack of WiFi and offline music support, which could have made it a more independent smartwatch.

But remember, this is a $99 watch. For that amount it offers plenty. In our mind it is perhaps the best looking Amazfit watch to date.

Now that the standard Active 2 is available in Europe, buyers have to decide whether to pick it up now or wait for the Premium model. While the core experience remains the same, the extra refinements in the Premium version may be worth considering for those who prefer higher-end materials and NFC. The company has also announced today the Haze Gray edition of the Amazfit T-Rex 3.
