Amazfit Active 2 Premium release hits UK & EU stores

Amazfit Active 2 Premium is finally available to buy in the UK and across Europe. After a delay of several months, the upgraded model can now be found both on the official Amazfit website and Amazon.

The Premium version is priced at £129.90 in the UK, or €129.90 for those in the EU. That’s a step up from the standard variant, which comes in at £89.90 or €89.90 depending on your region. Both versions are now in stock and ready to ship. To remind, both of these models have been available for purchase in the US since early March.

What makes the Premium model different

As noted in my hands-on review, this isn’t a massive overhaul of the original Active 2. But the Premium model does make a few welcome changes. Instead of a plastic case and tempered glass, you get a stainless steel body and sapphire glass. It also ships with both leather and silicone straps in the box.

The final bonus is NFC, which opens the door to contactless payments in supported regions. And Europe is one of them. That feature is not available on the regular model.

Everything else stays the same. You get the same 1.32-inch AMOLED display, Zepp OS 4.5, the BioTracker PPG 6.0 sensor, and up to 10 days of battery life. GPS accuracy is solid and offline maps are supported. A recent update has also unlocked music storage directly on the watch, which is handy for untethered workouts. There isn’t a great deal of storage for music, but it does work.

A better value proposition

For anyone who waited out the delay, the Premium version now offers a clear alternative. The pricing remains competitive, especially when you consider the materials upgrade and added features. While it’s not a huge leap in functionality, it does feel like a more polished wearable.

Those looking for a sleek fitness tracker with smartwatch features should find something to like here. It’s a relatively affordable package that now gives buyers in Europe the same options US customers have had for months.
