Polar teases a new watch with outdoor focus

Polar is teasing a new watch with an outdoor focus, and it looks like we’ll be getting more info each day until the big reveal. They’ve even kicked off a giveaway to sweeten the deal, with the prize value confirming the price point of the upcoming device.

A daily teaser campaign with a likely launch date

Right now, all we’ve got is a blurry photo and a countdown (as shown above). The new device hasn’t been named yet and Polar is keeping things vague for now.

What we do know is that the watch will be aimed at outdoor use. And that the company plans to reveal more about it every day until launch.

However, more info can be found if you dig into the giveaway terms. The prize is listed as a Polar watch worth 479 euros. That puts it in the mid-range to high-end territory. So probably not something that’s part of the Pacer, Unite or Ignite range.

Based on pricing alone, it could be something like a new Vantage model. To remind Vantage V3 was released in October 2023. M3 saw the light of day a year later, in October 2024, so an M4 is out of the equation.

The Grit X2 Pro was released in March 2024. So a follow-up to that also seems unlikely. Unless it’s a variation rather than a full replacement. But right now, that’s just speculation.

All signs point to June 4th

The timing might also offer a clue. To be eligible for the giveaway, users have to sign up for Polar’s newsletter between May 28th and June 4th. That end date may not be random. June 4th is Global Running Day, which makes it a strong candidate for the actual launch.

That suggests running might be a core part of this new device, even if the watch is pitched for outdoor use more broadly. Polar has always focused on sport-first devices, so blending outdoor features with running tools would make sense.

The company hasn’t given away much else yet, but the daily reveal format means we’ll likely see more details trickle out before the big day. For now, the main story is the timing, the price point, and the outdoor angle. The rest is still hidden behind the blur.
