Amazfit Helio Strap leak hints at Zepp Health’s Whoop-style tracker

A brand new Amazfit device has leaked, and it’s something we haven’t seen or heard about until now. It’s called the Helio Strap, and based on available info, it’s different from what we have seen before. Something like Whoop – at least in appearance.

A fabric band that hides its tech

This is the first real sign of the Amazfit Helio Strap, and it comes out of nowhere. Androidtr.es spotted images and data buried in Zepp app code, along with a reference to its FCC listing under the codename “Stuttgart”. There’s been no official announcement or prior mention of this model.

From the visuals now available, the Amazfit Helio Strap doesn’t try to look like a traditional smartband. It’s wrapped entirely in elastic textile material, with no screen, buttons, or branding on the outside. That gives it the appearance of a basic passive band, not a device packed with sensors or software. But that’s exactly what makes it interesting.

According to the leak, it actually contains a 460 × 460 pixel display hidden beneath the fabric. There’s no visible screen or cutout, so the display stays invisible until activated. A pretty clear idea as you get the best of both worlds. That should help it blend into any setting and likely helps stretch the battery life too.

Not your typical smartband

The design uses a continuous loop of elastic mesh, with no clasps, buckles or separable housing. It looks like everything is built into a single, unified piece. That simplicity might reduce failure points, and it probably helps keep the weight down as well. It’s aimed at people who want to track health metrics without walking around with a chunky screen on their wrist.

Even at this early stage, some feature clues have emerged. The Helio Strap is expected to support real-time heart rate tracking, activity monitoring with heart rate zones, female health tracking, and will run ZeppOS 4.5. It will sync via Bluetooth, and is clearly positioned for health-focused users who value subtlety.

But so far, it doesn’t look like this will be a full smartwatch. There’s no sign of media controls, voice functions or phone call features. And the lack of any mention of NFC makes it unlikely that contactless payments are part of the package either.

A possible Whoop alternative?

Does all of this sound familiar? Perhaps.

The Helio Strap could end up being Zepp Health’s answer to Whoop. Especially as recently the Zepp smartphone app has received a UI update that looks a lot like Whoop’s clean, recovery-focused layout. That combination – a subtle design, long-term tracking, and no visible display makes sense for a wearable that’s meant to disappear into your day. Granted, Whoop is still far ahead when it comes to the quality of the smartphone app.

The timing of the leak, along with the FCC appearance, suggests this won’t stay under wraps for long. A formal announcement may not be far off. To remind, we also spotted a few other wearables that might be landing soon including the Amazfit Balance XT and Amazfit Active 2 (Square).
