Amazfit T-Rex 3 update adds HYROX mode & new training templates

The new Amazfit T-Rex 3 update (v3.9.4.4) adds HYROX training, interval modes and map tweaks. But the watch is still on Zepp OS 4.0, not the newer 5.0.

HYROX joins the workout list

The highlight in this update is a new workout mode tailored for HYROX. That’s the growing fitness race format that blends running with functional exercises. The T-Rex 3 now officially supports it as a dedicated activity.

Alongside that, Zepp Health has expanded capabilities in several other modes. Cross Training, HIIT and HYROX all now support templates for AMRAP, TABATA and EMOM formats. These come with timers and preset layouts designed to help users follow structured sessions. Great news for users who rely on interval-style training and want better support on the wrist.

New Zoom option and better map interaction

Another addition is the new Zoom feature. It can be turned on in the Accessibility settings. Once enabled, you can magnify areas of the screen for easier reading. This could be particularly helpful when navigating in outdoor conditions where clarity matters.

What’s interesting is that the Zoom feature debuted on ZeppOS 5.0. Perhaps this is a clue that T-Rex 3 will eventually be bumped up to this version of the operating system.

Maps have also seen improvements. Drag and pinch gestures now work instantly when you open the map app, and there’s new support for auto heading tracking while zooming. Navigation alerts have been tweaked too. Beeps and vibrations should be clearer and easier to notice, especially when outdoors or in motion.

Zepp Coach, weather tweaks and minor refinements

According to the notes, Zepp Coach page has been cleaned up. Daily training suggestions are now displayed in chart format, making it easier to follow progress visually. The Weather app has received a minor UI refresh and now supports nighttime weather status, something a few users had flagged as missing.

Another detail: after the watch is reactivated, the app will now immediately sync your latest workout status. This should reduce data lag and improve continuity across sessions. There’s also a small change to the Full Recovery Time text description, aimed at making it more understandable.

T-Rex 3 firmware update

Still waiting for ZeppOS 5.0

One thing some users had been hoping for was a jump to Zepp OS 5.0. That hasn’t happened. The T-Rex 3 continues to run version 4.0, while newer models like the Amazfit Active 2, Balance 2 and Bip 6 are already on the latest version. That gap may widen further if those watches start getting exclusive software features over time.

Still, this update adds a fair bit of polish and utility to the T-Rex 3, especially for users training in gyms or out on trails. It’s not a full overhaul, but it keeps the device relevant in the current Amazfit lineup.
