Zepp OS 5 update will land on Amazfit T-Rex 3 soon

Zepp Health has confirmed that the T-Rex 3 will soon receive the Zepp OS 5 update. This would make it the first non-2025 release from the company to run the latest version of the operating system.

Zepp OS 5 moves beyond the 2025 lineup

Until now, Zepp OS 5 has only been available on newer models. That includes the Balance 2, all three variants of the Active 2, and the Bip 6. The T-Rex 3 launched earlier in 2024, so this will mark the first time the update is being extended to an older device. The news came from Amazfit Germany’s Instagram account, where the company confirmed that the software upgrade is on its way.

The timing lines up. T-Rex 3’s last firmware release landed in mid-July. That version (3.9.4.4) added a new HYROX Training mode and more precise zoom controls. The addition of Zepp OS 5 would be a more substantial jump.

What to expect from the update

Zepp Health has yet to confirm exactly which features will make it to the T-Rex 3. Not everything from Zepp OS 5 might end up on the device.

Some of the additions include a Jet Lag Manager, which helps users adjust their circadian rhythm during travel. There is also support for adjustable font sizes, which improves legibility across the interface. Zepp Flow 2.0, the company’s upgraded voice assistant, is another likely candidate. And, of course, you do get improvements under the hood to the entirety of the operating system.

But sme other features may not make the cut. The Golf app, for instance, was originally part of the Zepp OS 5 suite on the Balance 2. But Zepp Health representatives have suggested it’s now been pulled from that device in certain regions.

Another feature to watch is BioCharge. At the moment, it only appears on the Helio Strap. But given its overlap with Recovery Score and the broader OS transition underway, it seems likely that BioCharge will eventually replace the older metric across all watches running the latest version of the operating system.
