Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro update 4.9.4.4 improves diving maps and routes
Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro is getting firmware version 4.9.4.4 which introduces Auto Dive Detection. The update also improves maps, route storage and navigation setup.
Auto dive detection is the main change
The headline addition is system-wide Auto Dive Detection. This means the watch can now detect diving activity at system level, rather than relying only on the user manually starting a specific mode.
That makes sense for the T-Rex 3 Pro. The watch already sits in Zepp Health’s rugged outdoor range, so better support for water-based tracking fits the product rather than feeling like a random extra. It should also reduce the chance of missing a dive session simply because the right workout mode was not started in time.
Maps should be easier to manage
Firmware 4.9.4.4 also adds map download management. That should make it easier to keep offline maps organised, especially for users who download different areas for hiking, trail running, cycling or travel.
Furthermore, Zepp Health has made map downloads possible while the watch is charging at low battery levels. That sounds like a small change, but it solves a practical annoyance. If you are preparing the watch before heading out, low battery should not block you from getting maps ready while the device is already on charge.
The update also optimises scale display in the workout track page and Map app. Clearer scaling can help when checking your position or following a route on the move.
Route handling gets more useful
Route tools also get a decent upgrade. Route tracks and names can now appear before navigation starts, which should make it easier to confirm you have selected the right route.
That will help if you keep several routes saved in the same area. Similar names can become confusing, especially before a hike or run when you just want to get moving. Seeing the track before starting navigation removes some of that guesswork.
The watch now supports saving up to 100 routes. That gives users more room for regular training loops, travel routes and weekend trails without constantly clearing space. Offline route planning has also been optimised, although the changelog does not give much detail on what has changed.
Some more bits and pieces
Zepp Health has also optimised the Resume Later feature, which should help during longer activities where you pause and continue later. The update includes fixes for other known issues too, so there should be some smaller stability improvements in the background.
Firmware 4.9.4.4 is rolling out currently for the Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro. Presumably it will also come to the non-Pro version as they have been getting similar updates in the past few months. You can view the full. change-long below.
