Motorola, Inc. is an American multinational telecommunications company based in Schaumburg, Illinois. After having lost $4.3 billion from 2007 to 2009, the company was divided into two independent public companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions. Motorola Solutions is generally considered to be the direct successor to Motorola, as the reorganization was structured with Motorola Mobility being spun off. Motorola Mobility was acquired by Lenovo in 2014.

Motorola Moto (or Moto) is a trademark owned by Motorola Trademark Holdings, LLC. It is used and marketed on Android-based smartphones and wearable devices manufactured by Motorola Mobility. In November 2016, it was announced that all smartphones from Lenovo would carry the Moto name.
