Garmin Index Smart Scale – new addition to Garmin’s line of products

Garmin has announced a new addition to its line of products – a connected smart scale. The Index Smart Scale is the first body composition monitor integrated directly into the Garmin ecosystem of products. The device fits neatly into its existing line-up of devices. In addition to weight, the scale measures body mass index, body fat percentage, water percentage, muscle mass and bone mass.  Garmin will be in competition with the likes of Withings, Fitbit and Qardio.

The Index Smart Scale is an exciting addition to the Garmin lineup,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of worldwide sales. “We designed this smart scale to be both beautiful and functional, and with it we’re able to complete the wellness circle of weight management. We’re also excited to offer this as an option to our millions of running, cycling and multisport athletes who are looking for a smart solution to track body composition data along with the rest of their data in Garmin Connect.”

The scale has a sleek, modern design with a bright LCD display and extra large numbers for easy visibility. Like other smart scales on the market, the device will allow you to set up multiple profiles (up to 16) for different members of your family. It will automatically recognise the user when they step on the scale, and will record their information in Garmin Connect as well as syncing with MyFitnesssPal.
