Huawei launches Honor Bracelet 3 fitness tracker in China

As expected, Huawei has yesterday unveiled yet another activity device.

Dubbed Honor Smart Bracelet 3, the new wearable comes just a few weeks after the launch of the $30 Honor Band A2. Huawei’s latest attempt to conquer the fitness tracker market is a more premium version of the Band A2, rather than an entirely new device.

Bracelet 3 comes with an improved design. This includes and AMOLED display and main unit which is now integrated into the TPU wristband, along with water-resistance down to 50 meters. Standby time is an impressive 45 days, and the tracker comes with a dedicated two pin charger you can use to refuel.

In terms of actual functionality, you’ll find continuous heart-rate monitoring and the tracker will keep tabs on your calories, steps, distance, speed, and even sleep cycles. Honor says that Bracelet 3 is well suited for sports professionals including swimmers.

There is probably little to get excited about as we’ve seen all this before. The price is perhaps the main distinguishing feature. The tracker comes in two versions. The premium edition with built-in NFC is priced $39, while the version without NFC sells for $5 less. You also get to choose between Black, Orange and Blue colors.

Huawei used the press event to announce a few more devices including a smart scale and environment monitor.

Honor’s first intelligent scale comes with everything you would want from such a device. In addition to your weight, it will keep tabs on various metrics such as your your basal metabolic rate, body fat and muscle. You can control the $29 scale directly from your smartphone using the accompanying smartphone app.

More interestingly, Honor disclosed details on its smart environment monitor. The slick looking gadget detects more than 300 types of volatile organic compounds and PM 2.5 particles, with an accuracy of 0.0001mg/cubic meter.

Furthermore, the gadget also monitors the temperature, humidity and pressure in your home, and has the intelligence to turn on a smart purifier or an AC when it detects the air quality is poor or the temperature is high. The monitor comes with 5 days of battery life and a price tag of around $88.

Honor Bracelet 3 is already available for purchase on Huawei’s website in China, whereas the smart scale and environment monitor will be available from June 18th. No word on international availability yet.
