Lumo and PUMA partner to build sports performance product

Lumo Bodytech has announced a partnership with PUMA to deliver a new AI sports performance product. The mystery device will be built by PUMA, but will have Lumo’s AI coaching platform sitting in the background.

Founded in 2011, Lumo Bodytech is a motion science company. Its current products include the popular Lumo Lift and Lumo Run.

Lumo Lift, which is worn just below your collarbone, addresses a metric that few other fitness trackers do – that being your posture. The wearable tracks core position, upper body position and other nuances of posture. Lumo Run is a small and discreet sensor that measures and coaches you on your running form to improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.

Both of these devices are powered by Lumo’s MotionScience Platform. Designed by engineers from Stanford University, the platform uses advanced algorithms to track and optimise human movement. The company has recently announced the general availability of the platform and the collaboration with PUMA is an extension of that.

“Lumo and Puma have a shared vision for building a new, cutting edge AI product and we’re thrilled to provide this solution to people all around the world,” said Monisha Perkash, CEO and co-founder of Lumo Bodytech.

“We’re also excited to expand our Lumo MotionScience Platform to build next-generation capabilities for PUMA’s market-leading sports performance products.”

In an ever-expanding market, wearables manufactures will need to go beyond just displaying health metrics and look to provide much more meaningful analysis of our vitals data. Lumo’s partnership with PUMA, is a natural, strategic move towards the next generation of future connected health and fitness products.
