Fitbit announces premium fitness guidance and coaching service
Buried in the string of press releases from Fitbit yesterday are details of its new fitness guidance and coaching service.
This will provide premium workout training at an introductory price of $7.99 per month or $39.99 a year. The first tool to launch with this offering is the new Fitbit Coach app which comes with personalized workout videos, wellness programs and other tools to boost your fitness. Several workout videos will be available for free for you to try out.
The iOS, Android and Windows smartphone app is actually a rebranded version of Fitbit’s current Fitstar Personal Trainer app. It will connect with the company’s new Ionic smartwatch and other fitness devices.

Guided Health Programs include a six-week beginner’s running course, dynamic bodyweight workouts and a four-week crash course on reducing sugar. More wellness programs will launch soon including some for improving your sleep.
Fitbit Radio powered by feed.fm will offer a variety of popular music stations that range from pop to hip hop. Perfect if you opt to purchase the companies first ever bluetooth headphones.
“This new premium service marks the next chapter for Fitbit – bringing smarter, adaptive and more personalized software experiences to our users that help drive positive health outcomes, thereby creating lifelong Fitbit customers,” said Jon Oakes, VP of Product at Fitbit.
“With plans to open the platform to second and third party partners in the future, our premium offering will grow with new content and tools to give users an easy-to-follow path to improve their health.”
