Huawei has made its new Band 2 Pro fitness tracker available for purchase in the US.
The low cost Fitbit competitor covers the basics when it comes to keeping tabs on your fitness. This includes steps, distance, calories and sleep. You’ll find a continuous heart rate monitor too, along with a Breathing Coach to help you destress. When paired to a smartphone, the Band 2 Pro act will transmit notifications from the handset. You can reject calls, view messages, and set alarms, all on the band itself.

We’ve seen all that before, but its 2017 so it gets more interesting.
There is, for example, VO2Max. This measure has made its way to a number of popular 24/7 activity trackers recently such as the Fitbit Charge 2, Garmin Vivosmart 3 and Garmin’s new trio of Vivo devices. It tells you how well your body uses oxygen when you’re working out at your hardest. The higher your VO2 Max, the more fit you are. Huawei says, its technology allows its band to measure VO2Max with 95% accuracy.
Other features include TruSleep virtual sleep hygiene which dishes out stats on light, deep and REM sleep stages, and an on-board GPS sensor so you can track your workout routes without your phone. There is also Huawei’s Running Coach which taps into Firstbeat technology to assess your running style and suggest tailored workouts. It will also let you know if you are training hard enough to improve your fitness level and suggest a rest period between exercise sessions.
“Behind the development of the Huawei Band 2 Pro is a desire to build a fitness tracker that supports our digital and physical lives while still maintaining an attractive look and feel,” said Vincent Wen, Vice President of Huawei Device USA.
“Regardless of where adventures may lead, we’re proud to say the Band 2 Pro and our lineup of wearables are there to help support everyone’s desire for more active lifestyles.”
Band 2 Pro is swim proof down to 50 meters (5 ATM) and has very good battery life. A single charge of the 100mAH batter will give you 21 days of normal usage. This comes down to 3.5 hours with GPS switched on.
With a decent set of features, the Huawei 2 Pro is an option worth considering. Where the tracker stands out most, though, is not for its list of features, but its price point.
You can check the current price on Amazon. The tracker comes in a choice of Black, Blue and Red colours.
