Nokia makes its Steel HR available for holidays
A little over a year since its purchase of Withings, Nokia has announced availability of the popular Steel HR timepiece. Those who pre-order now can expect to receive their device sometime in December.
Nokia has relaunched several Withings products since the $191 million acquisition including the Nokia Go, Nokia Steel, the Nokia Thermo along with Nokia BPM+ and Nokia Body+ scales. The glaring omission was the popular Withings Steel HR timepiece.

Not everyone wants a sporty looking fitness tracker strapped to their wrist. Many people prefer something that combines the look and feel of a traditional watch, with abilities that are evident in today’s smartwatches.
Like its predecessors in the Activite range the Steel HR looks like a classic analogue watch. The stainless steel device, however, a bit further. It comes with an optical heart rate monitor and a small digital display for smartphone notifications. In our review, we found that it combined style and functionality in a way few other smartwatches manage.
Nokia says it has made some software improvements to the wearable and the new version will come with an improved heart rate algorithm. The face will also be replaced with sapphire glass further ensuring the 50 meter water-resistance.
The Steel HR is available for pre-order on Amazon. It comes in 36mm and 40mm case sizes and a choice in either black or white.
