The GPS enabled Amazfit Bip will keep going for a month on a single charge

Amazfit has announced today international availability of its Amazfit Bip smartwatch, a device that can keep going for more than a month on a single charge. The outfit is owned by Huami, the exclusive provider of wearable technology for Xiaomi.

Launched in China last year, this Apple Watch lookalike features a GPS and a heart rate sensor. This is a lightweight timepiece, coming in at just 31 grams or 18 grams without the strap. It sports a 1.28 inch, 176 x 176 pixel LCD display, that is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The panel is reflective which preserves battery life as it shows the time even when in standby mode.

In terms of specs, you’ll find an triaxial accelerometer, geomagnetic sensor, air pressure sensor, barometer, optical heart rate sensor, a GPS and GLONASS module and Bluetooth connectivity.

Amazfit Bip covers the basics when it comes to 24/7 activity tracking. It will keep tabs on your steps, calories, distance, floors, sleep quality and dish out sedentary alarms. Thanks to the GPS, the device also has various sports profiles and provides specific data for each of these. Finally, just like any self-respecting smartwatch, it allows you to read emails, text messages, calls, calendar alerts and view app notifications.

You can use Amazfit Bip come rain or shine, thanks to its IP68 water resistance rating. It will even resist underwater immersions.

Where the gadget really shines, though, is in its battery life. On as single charge it can keep going for a stonking 30 days with regular use, and up to 45 days with minimal notifications. With GPS switched on, you can squeeze around 22 hours out of it. Charging time is about two and a half hours.

“After much anticipation for the Amazfit Bip, we are pleased to bring an all-around fantastic smartwatch with a whopping 45-day battery life to the U.S. market,” said Frederik Hermann, Head of U.S. Marketing and Sales for Amazfit.

“Building on our 2017 momentum, Bip is a sports activity smartwatch with the best technology available at a highly accessible price point enabling more people visibility of  their biomechanical data to ultimately live more healthy, active and connected lives.”

Perhaps even better than the battery life is the price tag. The watch can be picked up on Amazon and amazfit.com. You can choose from four different color options including Onyx Black, White Cloud, Kokoda Green and Cinnabar Red.
