Scosche RHYTHM24 available now, features waterproofing & one day battery life
The next generation of Scosche’s hyper-accurate armband heart rate monitor has officially launched. It sports an all-new look, expanded features and variable activity modes.
Essential reading: Best heart rate chest strap
Announced earlier this year at CES 2018, RHYTHM24 is a heart rate monitor for your forearm or upper-arm. Its made of a silicone and polycarbonate hybrid with a soft elastic strap. This makes it comfortable to wear and much easier to put on than a chest strap. The device boasts Valencell’s latest PerformTek technology, which reads your heart rate through your skin with both green and yellow optical sensors. This combination ensures greater accuracy across all skin tones.
Scosche’s original RHYTHM+ is a highly popular device that has long been overdue for an update. When it was launched a few years ago, it was one of a kind. That is not the case any more and there is direct competition in the form of Polar OH1 and Wahoo Tickr Fit.
Still boasting both Bluetooth Smart and ANT+ connectivity, RHYTHM24 brings a number of improvements over the original. As its name implies, the gadget will now run a full day between charges, a significant boost to the 8 hours of its predecessor.
Another important upgrade is waterproofing. The second generation device has an IP68 water-resistance rating, which means it will just about survive a swim session. Just as important, RHYTHM24 also comes with internal memory which safely stores your readings allowing for phone-free training.
There are five training modes and two multi-modes to choose from and a LED battery indicator with lights to indicate heart rate zones. On top of that, the device boasts a heart rate variability (HRV) mode that monitors the time between each heartbeat for stress and recovery tracking. There are also profiles for a number of activities such as swimming, running and cycling.
The heart rate monitor is compatible with a ton of fitness apps. This includes RunKeeper, Map My Fitness, Strava and all other software that support Bluetooth Smart. It will also play nice with fitness devices that support ANT+ technology.
RHYTHM24, as well as its interchangeable armbands in a variety of colors, is available now at Amazon. We will be testing the heart rate band in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for our review.

“The second generation device has an IP68 water-resistance rating, which means it will just about survive a swim session”.
Can you please advise what “just about survive a swim session” actually means?
Either you can swim train with it (to a certain pre-defined depth), or you can’t?
“Just about” is a very ambiguous statement.
Not all water-resistance devices are created equal. IP68 Rating which means that a device is protected against water ingress to a maximum depth of 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, as well as protected against dust ingress. Hence the “just about” comment.
We all know by now about the defective production about scosche 24, my scosche 24 broke while swimming and it was gone forever, I contacted scosche thinking they will send me a replacement, after all it was a lemon product (lemon item most likely) but they said not. I have to contact the credit company because the transaction very recently and most likely I will get the money back. Just to let you know when you buy from these guys you aren’t getting a warranty. Amazing. My recommendation would be to stay away even further than sugar. Clevertraining doesn’t take responsibility of this device, many scosche24 are lemon of the production line, you guys can check in at dcrainmaker. What a horrible dreadful team Scosche and Clevertraning are.
