A Kickstarter backed project, the TicWatch is what a smartwatch should be – powerful and affordable at the same time. From the home screen to the pairing process, Mobvoi made sure that its smart timepiece is simple to use.

The company’s latest effort on this front is the TicWatch Pro. Its main party trick is that it has a transparent screen that sits on top of the smartwatch’s main display. When you are interacting with the device it uses a standard OLED display. At all other times the main display switches off in favor of the lower spec one. This combination offers unique power-saving functionality.

Mobvoi sells a number of other iterations of the device including TicWatch Classic and TicWatch S&E. What they all have in common is poor water resistance. The watches will survive sweat and rain but that’s about it. Most companies these days are coming out with wearables you can leave on while taking a bath or going for a swim.

Mobvoi publishes teaser of TicWatch E2 on its official website The teaser on Mobvoi’s website reveals there is a new smartwatch in the pipeline. It will be called the TicWatch E2 and it will have water-resistance. The teaser line “Water is now a friend of your watch” and accompanying image make this pretty clear.

In terms of looks, the new smartwatch looks very similar to its predecessors. Its fairly certain the device will run on Wear OS and hopefully it will come with new Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform announced earlier this month.

There’s been no official word on when TicWatch E2 will hit the market but we’ll report back when we find out more. You can also register on Mobvoi’s website to be kept informed.
