Bellabeat Time is the company’s first hybrid wellness watch

Bellabeat has dipped its toe into the smartwatch space with its first hybrid wellness watch for women. Called Time, it integrates the capabilities of a health tracker with an attractive analog design.

Founded in 2014, Bellabeat is perhaps best known for its range of smart jewelry-like devices including the Bellabeat Leaf, Urban and Chakra. You can wear them as a necklace or bracelet with accessories or items you already own – or clip them to any clothing item as a stylish accent.

Bellabeat Time is a hybrid watch based on a quartz movement. In addition to telling the time, it connects wirelessly to the accompanying smartphone app to offer insights into your wellness. The wearable does not monitor heart rate but it does offer activity and sleep tracking. This includes the usual steps, calories, distance, active time, sleep duration, sleep quality and wake-up time.

What sets it apart from the pack, though, is the stress related and women specific functionality. Users will get a stress prediction based on their lifestyle habits. The hope is that this will help them proactively reduce the onset of stress before it happens. To help you chill further, the wearable offers guided meditations and breathing exercises.

This is actually the same functionality we’ve seen in Bellabeat’s smart jewelry range. It also includes period tracking and a fertility calendar, allowing users to discover the ins and outs of their body.

There is some basic non-wellness functionality, too. Bellabeat Time will dish out vibration alerts and vibration alarms.

The whole thing is water-resistant down to 30 meters (3 ATM) and housed in stainless steel. A coin-cell battery will keep the watch going for up to 6 months.

Time is available in gold and rose finishes with a wide range of interchangeable strap accessories to choose from. It retails for $179 and is available for purchase on the Bellabeat website. Availability in other retail outlets should follow soon.
