Mobvoi TicWatch GTH tracks skin temperature & SpO2 around the clock

Mobvoi has announced the global release of TicWatch GTH. The device has been available for purchase in China since the start of this year.

The latest timepiece comes on the heels of TicWatch Pro S which was unveiled in the US and UK last month. That one is pretty much the 2021 version of TicWatch Pro 2020. It comes with 8GB of ROM instead of 4GB and there are some software upgrades, but everything else is the same.

TicWatch GTH – technical specs

TicWatch GTH was first unveiled in January 2021 in Mobvoi’s home market of China. It offers a not-so-widely found temperature tracking feature that works around the clock. Useful, most would agree, in these coronavirus times.

Temperature measurements are taken automatically around the clock, approximately every 10 minutes. About 5 seconds is all it takes for a single reading. The tech is apparently sensitive enough to detect temperature changes as tiny as 0.1°C. You will get a notification if the device determines you may be coming down with something.

Other than that, you get the usual PPG optical sensor and accelerometer. This allows you to keep tabs on your heart, blood oxygen, breathing rate and stress 24/7.

Blood oxygen is also tracked automatically, around the clock. A fall in levels can be another indicator you are coming down with COVID.

As far as exercise, there are 14 sports modes. This includes indoor and outdoor running, hiking, cycling, stationary bikes, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, rowing, yoga, rope jumping and free workouts. Swimming can also be found thanks to 5 ATM water-resistance.

The watch is rather plain looking with a square metal frame construction. This is attached to a removable silicone strap. On the right of the body is a circular button that acts as a shortcut and to wake up the display. The actual dimensions of the thing come in at 43.2 x 35.2 x 10.5mm.

TicWatch GTH packs a 1.55 inch TFT display. The screen has a resolution of 360 x 320 pixels with 310 PPI density and there’s 2.5D curved glass to protect it from scratches and drops. You can customize the display with a range of watch-faces, including your own photos.

Powering everything is a 260 mAh battery. This provides about a week of juice on a single charge. In a “mild-use” scenario this extends to 10 days. Two hours is how long it takes to charge from zero to full.
