Huawei throws Watch GT 2 Pro ECG & Band 6 Pro into the mix

Huawei has introduced the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro ECG and the Band 6 Pro today. The first comes with the addition of an ECG monitor, the second with a temperature sensor. Here’s everything you need to know about the wearables including where you can buy them.

The duo were launched alongside Huawei’s new smart speaker, smart screen and the P50 smartphone series at an event earlier this morning. Variants of these two wearables have been around for a while. Now we are getting iterative upgrades on the originals.

Huawei Watch GT2 Pro has been in existence since September 2020. It followed a GT2 e version that was released in the spring of 2020 and Watch GT 2 in September 2019. The latest variant comes in the form of the Watch GT 2 Pro ECG.

As the name implies, the addition this time around is an ECG sensor for taking electrocardiogram measurements. It works in a similar way to other such devices, requiring you to rest our finger on the watch sensor.

All the other functionality has been ported over from the Pro version. This includes SpO2, heart rate tracking, sleep, stress levels, 100 workouts modes and more. The LiteOS device packs a 1.39-inch AMOLED display that is protected by Sapphite crystal-infused glass and a titanium frame.

Huawei Band 6 Pro

Huawei Band 6 was released in April 2021. Its main novelty factor is the humongous display, not typical of the ones you can find in traditional fitness trackers. The 1.47 inch AMOLED has a great viewing experience and in a sense blurs the line between fitness bands and smartwatches.

As far as specs, you get the standard fitness tracking sensors including SpO2. Unlike some devices, blood oxygen saturation is monitored around the clock.

The Pro variant does not add GPS or NFC to the standard iteration. Instead, it slaps on a temperature monitor. We’re not sure at this stage whether this works on demand or around the clock. Hopefully it is the latter.

Other functionality remains the same. So you still get 96 workout modes and battery life that lasts around two weeks.
