OPPO to start selling Air Glass in China from March 3rd
OPPO has confirmed that its Air Glass will be available for purchase in China from the 3rd of March. The will retail for 4,999 year (just short of $800).
The specs were originally announced a couple of months ago, around the time we first saw the Huawei Smart Glass teaser. OPPO’s device, however, is more infused with high-tech. They are a fully featured reality (AR) smart glass product.
The specs will allow you to do many things. This includes accessing maps for navigation, viewing notifications, keeping tabs on health and fitness data, accessing real-time translation services and more. Interacting with the glasses will be done via touch, voice, hand motions and head movements. You’ll also be able to control them by using an OPPO smartphone or smartwatch.
The idea is for the specs to become a third screen – in addition to your smartphone and watch. In time, these smart glasses might eliminate the need for these other types of products.
The smart bit of OPPO Air Glass weighs only 30 grams and snaps onto custom black or silver frames designed by the company. This is held in place with magnetic components inside the frame.

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100 SoC, OPPO glasses use waveguide display technology along with something the company refers to as a Spark Micro Projector and cutting-edge micro-LED. You’ll be able to choose between two display modes – 16-level grayscale and 256-level grayscale (at 640 x 480 pixel resolution).
OPPO Air Glass will get a limited release in China from March 3rd. Two colour choices will be available: Silver Wing and Black Mirror, along with two custom frame kits. In its local market the specs will sell for 4,999 yuan (slightly under $800). No word yet on when and if international availability will come.
