AliveCor KardiaComplete aims to help decentralize heart care in the US
Today at the American Telemedicine Association annual meeting, AliveCor announced the launch of a new service called KardiaComplete. This is a heart health enterprise solution designed to help drive improved health outcomes and reduce the cost of cardiac care.
The new service is available to people suffering from hypertension, atrial fibrillation and underlying cardiac conditions. They can access it through their self-insured employers, health insurance plans and health systems. The ultimate plan is to widen KardiaComplete accessibility in the future to people living with other heart conditions.
KardiaComplete – what is it?
The service essentially pairs two excellent cardiac monitoring solutions. One is AliveCor’s KardiaMobile 6L, the other Omron’s Evolv blood pressure cuff. Subscribers will get real-time and digital heart health coaching along with other lifestyle management tools.
One of the aims of AliveCor’s KardiaComplete is to help decentralize heart care in the United States. The country faces a crippling cardiologist shortage, hence the need for alternative solutions. The other aim is to reduce the cost of cardiac care with top of the line home monitoring products.
The FDA approved AliveCor KardiaMobile 6L is a 6 lead ECG reader. This makes it many times more powerful and accurate than a smartwatch with ECG – which are single lead devices. The more leads the better, as more leads mean a better view of your heart.

AliveCor has recently introduced another interesting device. Dubbed KardiaMobile Card, this is a medical-grade ECG device that fits in your wallet. There’s no charging and the card should work for a couple of years with the internal battery intact. In our hands-on review we note the excellent concept, ease of taking readings and the simple to use smartphone app.
Finally, Omron Evolv is amongst our favourite blood pressure monitors. We reviewed that device as well a while back and found its operation to be very smooth, fast and noiseless. The convenience of having no bulky heavy units or long tubes cannot be overstated! Plus you can operate it without the smartphone app, something the older generation might appreciate.
All in all we were really impressed with the ease of set-up and smooth operation of Omron Evolv. While self-checking is not a substitute for seeing a doctor, being able to regularly measure and most importantly track blood pressure can literally save your life.
