Huawei Watch GT 4: Leaked images & the September 14 reveal
Huawei is on the brink of unveiling its latest smart timepiece, the Watch GT 4. The device will be released on September 14th, in a total of nine variants in two sizes.
The company recently released a promotional poster for an event titled “Wearable Strategy and New Product Launch”. Due to be held in Barcelona a timepiece will most likely land on that day.
The teaser includes an image of a watch dial, fuelling speculation that the company will unveil its Huawei Watch GT 4 series. Weibo tipster @Ark, known for accurate predictions on Huawei releases, supports this theory.
We actually envisioned IFA 2023 in Berlin as an ideal stage for the Watch GT 4 unveiling. But Huawei did not see it this way. It seems the company has opted to organise its own event, instead.

Interestingly, many had anticipated the Watch GT 4’s debut around the same time last year. However, the Chinese tech-giant has remained tight-lipped, neither confirming nor denying these speculations. As of now, the company is yet to make a mention of the upcoming watch, and details regarding its specifications remain under wraps.

However, Winfuture published some pics earlier today of what they claim will be Watch GT 4. The timepieces come in two sizes, featuring diameters of either 41 or 46 millimeters. Prices span from 249 to 399 euros, the difference primarily stemming from the materials used. It is anticipated that the new Huawei smartwatches will hit the European market at the start of October.
The premium model of the Watch GT 4 is crafted from stainless steel and comes with a coordinating stainless steel wristband. Additionally, there will be multiple other variants featuring more basic metal casings and bands made of fabric or synthetic materials. The 41-millimeter model is designed to attract customers who prioritize style or are female, whereas the 46-millimeter model leans towards a more technical aesthetic.

The 46-millimeter Huawei Watch GT 4 stands out for its unique case architecture. Preliminary details indicate that the manufacturer is promoting an expanded suite of fitness monitoring features and a battery lifespan of approximately two weeks. This longevity is achieved through the use of energy-efficient OLED displays, powered by an ARM Cortex-M processor running RTOS.

In terms of functionality, the Huawei Watch GT4 series leans more towards being a fitness tracker than a traditional smartwatch. In contrast, competitors like the Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch generally operate on more robust platforms.
A look back: The Huawei Watch GT 3
At this point it might be worth revisiting the current version. The Huawei Watch GT 3, the third instalment of the flagship GT series, made its debut in October 2021. Running on HarmonyOS, consumers had the option to choose between a 46mm and a 42mm model.
Both models are quite similar in terms of specifications. They boast essential fitness sensors, satellite connectivity, and the capability to monitor various sports activities. In addition there are features such as sleep breathing quality analysis, atrial fibrillation alerts, and stress metrics. The built-in music storage and an impressive two-week battery life further enhance
In 2022, Huawei expanded the GT series with a Pro model. This edition saw the smaller model’s size increase to 43mm. The 43mm variant featured a ceramic build, while the 46mm model was upgraded to titanium. Both retained the sapphire glass AMOLED display. A notable enhancement was the introduction of ECG functionality, allowing users to monitor their heart’s rhythm and electrical activity.
Watch GT 4: The anticipation builds
One other thing worth mentioning are regulatory filings. There was one from SIRIM at the start of this month for Watch GT 4 which confirms the 46mm version.

Prior to this there was a Bluetooth SIG certification. This mentioned two editions, bearing the names PNX-B19 and AR-B19. Both these models will harness the power of Bluetooth 5.2 technology, ensuring efficient power consumption.

Another revelation from Bluetooth SIG is the watch’s operating system. The Watch GT 4 will run on HarmonyOS 4 right out of the box, with a firmware version listed as 4.0.0.50 (SP1C00M00).
Huawei’s recent introduction of this software promises new watch faces and enhanced touch interactions for its smart devices. Given these advancements, it’s plausible that the Watch GT 4 will feature innovative animations and a live window feature, granting users better access to its capabilities.
