Wear OS 4 beta now open for Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5
Mobvoi has kickstarted beta testing for Wear OS 4 on its popular TicWatch Pro 5 model. This exciting development marks a significant step for the company and its loyal user base, potentially establishing the TicWatch Pro 5 as Mobvoi’s first device to carry the latest Wear OS upgrade.
The TicWatch Pro 5 carved a special niche for itself by being the first Mobvoi watch to debut with Wear OS 3 out of the box in late spring 2023. We had the opportunity to review the device, and found it to be one of the best timepieces running the Google operating system.
The device’s signature dual-display system provides unparalleled battery life for a wear OS watch, allowing users to go days between charges. The Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip delivers lightning-fast responsiveness, making interactions feel silky smooth. Mobvoi’s thoughtfully refined software further elevated the experience.
Now, history could repeat itself as Mobvoi paves the way for Wear OS 4 on the TicWatch Pro 5. As they say, better late than never.
How to Participate in the Beta Testing
If you own a TicWatch Pro 5 and yearn to be one of the first to experience the new software, Mobvoi invites you to apply for its beta program. To express interest, you’ll need to fill out a questionnaire. The recruitment period closes on April 30th, and lucky participants can expect to hear from the company within a week of that date. Here’s the Google docs link for those interested in participating.
To be eligible, you must agree to strict confidentiality. This means no screenshots, videos, or logs of the watch on any public platforms. You’ll need to remain active by using the watch daily and applying any OTA updates promptly. Your feedback is crucial to the beta process, so expect to share comments, suggestions, and insights. All communications will occur within a designated Slack group, and to officially join the program, you’ll need to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

All of this is great news for those with a TicWatch 5 Pro. The initiative echoes Mobvoi’s beta recruitment program conducted in late August 2023 for Wear OS 3, targeting older Mobvoi watches. In early 2024, the public release of Wear OS 3 gracefully landed on the TicWatch E3, swiftly followed by the TicWatch Pro 3 and Ultra LTE variants. Assuming a similar timeframe, widespread availability of Wear OS 4 for the TicWatch Pro 5 could materialize around four to five months from now.
