Huawei Watch Fit 3: new images show additional colour schemes

Huawei is channeling their inner Apple with their Watch Fit 3 design. Newly released leaked images ditch the fitness band aesthetic, revealing a squarer display with playfully rounded corners.

And get this – the control button’s gone rogue! It’s left its central hangout and scooted to the bottom, now sporting a quirky rotating crown for company. Oh, and those oddly uneven bezels? What’s that about?

The leaks suggest a stylish palette, all rocking matching silicone or leather straps. This is according to Rolland Quandt’s images of the device leaked on Twitter.

A total of six Watch Fit 3 color schemes have been unveiled so far.

Regulatory filing for Watch Fit 3

The Watch Fit 3 will likely land soon, also suggested by a regulatory filing which appeared a few weeks ago.

It comes in the form of the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) product certification. The regulator approves a wide range of products, including electrical and electronic equipment, building materials. Smartwatches launching in the country need this certification to ensure they meet established safety, quality, and environmental standards.

While the device is not explicitly named, it is strongly anticipated to be the Huawei Watch Fit 3. Identified by the model number SLO-B19, regulatory documents hint at the smart watch featuring audio storage and playback capabilities.

A look back at the Watch Fit series

Watch Fit 2 was unveiled in the now distant May 2022. An evolution on its predecessors, it boasts a larger, elongated 1.74-inch display, enhancing the wide viewing experience that the original Watch Fit introduced in August 2020. The model maintains the 10-day battery life hallmark and broadens its fitness functionality, including support for 97 different sports activities, built-in GPS and an animated coach feature for seven sports.

Powered by the ARM Cortex-M-SoC and running on Huawei’s proprietary Harmony OS 2.0, the Watch Fit 2 also came equipped with a built-in speaker and microphone for wrist-based call handling, offline music playback capability, and the Tap to Transfer feature facilitating seamless file transfers. However, it still lacks an altimeter, an omission that may be addressed in the forthcoming Watch Fit 3.

July 2023 saw the launch of the Watch Fit SE, offering a more budget-conscious option. It offers a slightly smaller display but still includes a comprehensive sensor array and numerous workout modes.

Watch 3 Fit: coming in the near future

Rumors had suggested that the Huawei Watch Fit 3 will be unveiled alongside the P70 series. But that did not turn out to be the case.

We’ve looked for other regulatory listings, but found no further mentions of a device with the SLO-B19 moniker. This leads us to believe that the reveal may be confined to China initially, with an international launch possibly occurring a few months later.
