Huawei Watch 4 gets HarmonyOS 4.2 with health upgrades
HarmonyOS 4.2 is making its way to Huawei Watch 4 devices, bringing a wealth of new features and enhancements. This update, already available to some users, offers a mix of aesthetic upgrades, health monitoring improvements, and a few other features.
Harmony OS 4.2 – what’s new?
For starters, there are two new official watch faces. Star Explorer and Astronaut Leap are now there as fresh visual options for users.
Health Glance 2.0, a significant upgrade, now tracks 13 health indicators, adding pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, sleep apnea detection, and hyperglycemia evaluation. Of course, some of these will be region dependent as they rely on local regulatory agency approvals. So not everyone will have access to all of them.
This version also offers health trend analysis, making it easier to monitor changes over time. The expansion of health data sharing now allows Health Glance reports to be shared within the Health Community.
HUAWEI TruSeen™ 5.5+ offers higher accuracy in health monitoring and faster Sp02 measurements, while optimizing the user experience for hyperglycemia evaluation. New risk screening and alert notifications in HUAWEI TruSlee now include sleep apnea detection, lung function evaluation during sleep, and COPD screening without additional equipment.

Fitness buffs will appreciate the Stay Fit app, which offers detailed metrics like real-time calorie intake, active calories, resting calories, and calorie deficit. The updated Cycle Calendar app now includes smart predictions, symptom recording, and the ability to switch between calendar and ring view.
HarmonyOS 4.2 also supports setting up to 40 alarms and improves the organization of the Workout records screen. The optimization of Bluetooth incoming call notifications has improved overall system performance and stability in certain scenarios.
The Ultra-long Battery Life mode also receives its share of upgrades. It now features a brand-new interface design and Grid mode, along with a bunch of other improvements as listed in the screenshot below.
How to upgrade
As with any update, connect your watch to a network, preferably a WLAN hotspot, to ensure a smooth download and installation process. If the update fails initially, trying again should resolve the issue. The update process may take some time, so patience is advised. Also, this is a gradual rollout so not all regions will receive it at the same time.
