Bob & Brad Q2 Pro Massage Gun review: Compact power with a hot & cold twist
As someone who’s always on the lookout for effective wellness tools, I was excited to get my hands on the Bob & Brad Q2 Pro massage gun. This is a new device, released in June. Having previously reviewed its predecessor, the Q2 Mini, back in 2022, I was curious to see how this updated version would stack up. The original Q2 Mini impressed me with its portability, powerful motor, and quiet operation, so I had high expectations for this new iteration.
The Q2 Pro promises to build on the strengths of its predecessor while introducing some intriguing new features. Most notably, it now offers both heat and cold therapy options, adding a new dimension to its muscle relief capabilities. As someone who values versatility in my wellness gadgets, I was particularly interested to see how these additions would enhance the massage experience.

Bob & Brad Q2 Pro Massage Gun review: Hardware
Travel-friendly design
The Bob & Brad Q2 Pro retains the compact and travel-friendly design of its predecessor. In fact it has the exact same dimensions – 5.7 x 3.3 x 1.8 inches (L x W x H). This size allows it to fit comfortably in your hand, making it easy to maneuver during use. Like before, the device comes with a carrying case that’s only slightly larger than the device itself, measuring about 7 x 7 x 2.75 inches. While it won’t fit in your pocket, the case easily slips into a handbag, purse, or backpack. It’s perfect for those on-the-go.
The Q2 Pro’s build quality is impressive, featuring a matte black heavy plastic exterior with a rubber grip for secure handling. The glossy end-panel adds a touch of style. Despite its small size, the device feels substantial and well-made, dispelling any notions of flimsiness often associated with mini massage guns. Its 0.95lbs of weight actually aids in applying pressure during use.
Minimalism is the go-word here. Operating the Q2 Pro is straightforward, with a single power button controlling all functions. A long press turns it on, and subsequent presses cycle through five speed settings ranging from 1800 to 3000 percussions per minute. LED lights indicate the current speed. The device maintains the 7mm amplitude of its predecessor, providing effective percussion for most users, though those seeking very deep tissue massage might prefer a larger model. The company has a range of those in its portfolio, for those that are interested.
One standout feature carried over from the Q2 Mini is the impressively quiet operation. Even at its highest setting, the noise level remains below 55db, making it suitable for use in shared living spaces without disturbing others.
All things considered, in terms of design, the Q2 Pro seems pretty much identical to the Q2 Mini. Which is not a bad thing. The company has taken an existing product which has proven to be successful, and upgraded it with some new functionality.
Five different attachments including heat & cold therapy
The main thing that sets the Q2 Pro apart from its predecessor are the new heat and cold therapy options. These features add versatility to the device, allowing users to combine temperature therapy with percussion massage for enhanced muscle relief and recovery.
This comes in the form of a new attachment that sits along four other interchangeable massage heads. Choose any of these and they will easily slip into the metal enclosure on the gun. The attachments are designed to stay securely in place during use, requiring a firm pull for removal. Interestingly, despite the compact size of the massage gun itself, the attachments are comparable in size to those found on larger models, ensuring effective treatment across various muscle groups.
In the case you’ll find the fork head, with its two extending ends. This is ideal for improving flexibility and is particularly effective for use on the back, neck, and spine. For massaging larger muscle groups, the ball head’s spherical shape comes in handy. It is constructed from firm foam, providing a balance between pressure and comfort during use. When you need to target tough, specific areas with intensity and accuracy, the bullet head’s small tip is your go-to option.
As an avid runner, the one I use the most often is the air cushion head. Its flat, round end covers a wide area, making it perfect for large muscle groups. This attachment is also useful when dealing with very tight muscles or bruises.
Having said that, the star of the show is the unique heat and cold head. This flat-topped attachment not only distributes the force of the massage gun evenly but also offers the added benefit of temperature therapy. Users can choose between heat and cold settings. Each has two different temperature levels, cold 10C and 15C which you cycle through by pressing the button on the attachment, and heat 40C and 45C. Indicator lights show which setting and level you are on.
Excellent battery life
As far as battery life, the Q2 Pro does not disappoint. It comes with a USB-C charging cable that you plug into the massage gun and connect it to any USB outlet when it’s time to recharge. While not included in the package, you also have the option to use a regular phone adapter or a 5V/2A adapter for charging.
The device features a handy battery indicator light next to the gear lights, keeping you informed about the remaining power. A red light signals that you’re down to less than 30% battery life, while a blinking red light indicates you’ve dipped below 20%. When the light is blue, you can rest assured you have ample massage time left. Charging the device fully takes between three to four hours, which is somewhat longer compared to some competitors. When full, the indicator light turns green.
With a battery capacity of 2500mAh, the Q2 Pro offers impressive runtime. According to the operation manual, you can expect up to 3.5 hours of use on a single charge, providing plenty of massage sessions before needing to plug in again. I found this advertised battery life is pretty indicative of real-world use.
What’s worth noting here is that the heat and cold therapy attachment head has its own separate battery. This is charged using the same USB-C cable. That element is powered by a 900 mAh battery, offering 60 minutes of running time. Charging this takes about 120 minutes.

Bob & Brad Q2 Pro Massage Gun review: How to use
As noted in my review of the Q2 Mini, this is an excellent massager. The size of it makes it way easier to use than a big one. It is extremely quiet too. You can watch the television while using it and even use it in an office setting.
First things first, give it a full charge. Once it’s juiced up, pick your preferred attachment and press the power button to kick things off. Cycle through the speeds until you find the one that hits the spot. If you need a breather, hold the power button for a couple of seconds to pause. Don’t worry if you get distracted – the device will turn itself off after a while if you forget about it.
Using it is a breeze, and now you’ve got heat and cold therapy to play with too. There is actually an increasing number of massage guns on the market offering heat and cold therapy. For a reason. The first is good before workouts to improve blood flow and flexibility. Cold therapy is great after workouts to help muscles and reduce swelling.
Pop on the special attachment, press the heat or cold button, and you’re off. Want it hotter or colder? Just press again. There are two buttons on this head – one for heat, one for cold. Press the one you want, and you’re good to go. Want to ramp up the intensity? Just press the same button again. It’s a neat feature that adds versatility to your recovery routine.
It’s worth noting, it doesn’t get piping hot or freezing cold. More of a mild sensation. And because the massage gun is portable, you can pop it into your gym bag and use it right after a workout.
The small size of the massage gun also means you will find yourself reaching muscles that larger massage guns struggle to target effectively. Areas like your back, shoulders, and the inside of your legs become much more accessible. It’s light enough to handle easily but still has enough heft to apply decent pressure where you need it.
Under the hood, there’s a compact but mighty brushless motor. I’ve been putting this little powerhouse through its paces, using it multiple times a day for weeks, and it hasn’t faltered once. It can take quite a bit of pressure too – the manual states a stall force of 32lbs, which is impressive for a device this size.
The Q2 Pro comes with a handy instruction booklet that outlines various massage techniques. That said, you’ll probably find yourself naturally figuring out what works best for you as you use it. And here’s a plus – there’s no smartphone app or any digital fuss to deal with. It’s refreshing to have a gadget that doesn’t require yet another app download.
The ergonomic design with silicone grips ensures the device stays firmly in your hand during use. This comfortable grip, combined with its compact size, means you’re likely to reach for the Q2 Pro more often than you might a larger, more unwieldy massage gun. I’ve found myself using it regularly to soothe my post-run muscle soreness, and it’s made a noticeable difference in my recovery.
When it comes to the attachments, most of them are a simple push-and-pull affair. The fork head is the only one you need to be a bit careful with – make sure it’s aligned properly to prevent it from falling out mid-use. As for the massage itself, a controlled downward pressure usually does the trick. You don’t need to be an expert – just apply pressure where it feels good, and you’ll be on your way to looser, happier muscles.
It’s worth noting that the Q2 Pro has a built-in safety feature that automatically shuts off the device after 10 minutes of continuous use. This precaution helps prevent overheating and ensures the longevity of the device. Don’t worry though – if you need more time, you can simply turn it back on for another 10-minute session.
Bob & Brad Q2 Pro Massage Gun review: The bottom line
The Bob & Brad Q2 Pro takes what worked with its predecessor and adds heat and cold therapy options. This enhances its functionality for both pre- and post-workout recovery. The compact massage gun delivers effective muscle relief in a travel-friendly size, offering good value for its $89.99 price point.
Compared to full-sized massage guns, the Q2 Pro is less cumbersome, quieter, and lighter. Its user-friendly design makes it easy to handle and operate. With multiple speed settings, it caters to various intensity preferences. And, despite its small size, the battery life is surprisingly long-lasting.
The Q2 Pro’s portability is a significant advantage. It easily fits into a gym bag or backpack, making it convenient for use at home, in the office, or while traveling. I’ve found it particularly useful for quick muscle relief after workouts or during extended periods at my desk.
Bob & Brad Q2 Pro Massage Gun |
Overall, the Q2 Pro is a solid choice for anyone wanting a versatile, portable massage gun for regular use. While it might not be the most powerful option out there, its combination of features and compact design make it a great choice for those seeking on-the-go muscle relief.

I learned about the mini massage gun on Brad and Bob’s YouTube program. I really like their program because it’s very easy to understand what they’re teaching and it’s helpful. So when they talked about this little massage gun I thought this is something that I’m gonna give a try.
It’s a great little device.
