Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 may debut in January with better sensors & AI
It hasn’t even been a year since the original Galaxy Ring, and Samsung is, reportedly, already gearing up to launch the Gen 2 device at its Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22, 2025. This new version is set to offer better health tracking sensors, more size options and smarter AI features.
Why the Ring 2 could be worth your attention
The first-generation Galaxy Ring impressed with its sleek design, reliable health tracking, long battery life, and water resistance. However, limited size options, a high price, and its Android-only compatibility are clear drawbacks. The next iteration looks to address some of this.
For starters, the rumour is that there will be the addition of two additional sizes. This means the updated ring will come in a total of 11 size options.
Next, the Galaxy Ring 2 will reportedly have upgraded sensors. Heart rate monitoring, sleep analysis, and activity tracking should all get more precise. That means better insights into your wellness. If the upgrades deliver, the Ring 2 could give competitors like the Oura Ring a run for their money.
Samsung’s been leaning hard into artificial intelligence, and the Galaxy Ring 2 isn’t being left out. It is said that the new ring will feature AI capabilities to take its health insights to the next level. While we don’t know exactly how this will work yet, it’s likely to focus on giving users smarter, more tailored feedback. Think personalized suggestions rather than just raw data.

Battery life is a strong point of the original Galaxy Ring, which lasts up to seven days on a single charge. Samsung seems to be sticking to this winning formula, with reports suggesting the Ring 2 will have the same—or even better—battery life.
What else to expect at Galaxy Unpacked
The Galaxy Ring 2 will share the spotlight with other major launches at the January event. The Galaxy S25 series is expected to show off AI smarts powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite processor, and Samsung’s AR smart glasses are set to bring futuristic tech into a stylish, everyday design. It’s all part of Samsung’s push to expand its Galaxy AI ecosystem.
It is a bit strange that we may be getting a second generation ring less than a year after the first version was launched. We’ll have to wait until January to see if all the rumors are true.
What adds credibility to this rumour is that the new Galaxy Ring has made an appearance on Samsung’s official website. Support pages for the smart ring have recently been spotted on the UK and Switzerland sites, referencing the Galaxy Ring 2 with model numbers SM-Q514 and SM-Q515.
At the moment the the next generation of Samsung’s smart ring looks like an iterative upgrade. It might not reinvent the wheel, but more size options mean it’ll fit better, upgraded sensors will track your health more accurately, and AI features could make it smarter than ever. Add in a long battery life, and you’ve got a decent smart ring offering.
