Samsung Watch 8 Classic may debut in 2025 with its signature rotating bezel
Fans of the rotating bezel should pay attention. A new Samsung device, spotted in the GSMA database, seems to be the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Listed under the model number SM-L505U, it is a US variant with cellular connectivity.
This is big news for those who missed the Classic line in 2024. Samsung skipped a Classic model in that year, instead focusing on the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Both were solid additions to the range, but neither had the iconic rotating bezel—a feature that set the Classic apart from other smartwatches.
What we know so far
Details about the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic are slim, but it is mentioned by name in the filing. Based on Samsung’s history, there’s a good chance it will revive the bezel that fans have been asking for. This rotating dial is more than just a gimmick; it makes navigating menus more intuitive and gives the watch a bit of old-school charm.
Samsung usually launches its new Galaxy Watches in the second half of the year, typically around July or August. If the timing holds, we could see the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic revealed together during a summer Unpacked event.
Why bring back the Classic now?
The decision to skip the Classic line in 2024 likely came down to experimentation. Samsung pushed into new territory with the rugged Galaxy Watch Ultra, which was clearly aimed at outdoor lovers. This is also the answer to its big rival – Apple, which has an Ultra model of its smartwatch. But the Classic series has always appealed to a different crowd—people who want a smartwatch that looks and feels more traditional, but doesn’t skimp on features.

Bringing it back in 2025 could be Samsung’s way of balancing innovation with nostalgia. A return to the Classic style might also signal that Samsung is listening to its users, many of whom have been vocal about missing the bezel.
What could be new?
While the rotating bezel seems like a safe bet, it is too early to speculate what else the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic might bring to the table. Samsung has been steadily improving its health and fitness tracking features, so we should see some upgrades there. Better battery life, faster processors, or tighter integration with other Samsung devices could also make the cut.
