The Smart Alarm update is live for Ultrahuman Ring Air
The wait is over—Ultrahuman Ring Air users can now try out the new Smart Alarm feature. After being teased by the company a few weeks ago, it’s rolling out to everyone through a simple app update. If you’ve been wanting a more thoughtful way to wake up, this one’s for you.
A smarter way to wake up
This isn’t your basic alarm clock. The Smart Alarm takes your sleep data and turns it into a custom wake-up plan. Want to wake up when you hit your Sleep Index goal? Check. Prefer to be woken up after paying off your sleep debt? No problem. You can also choose to wake after a full sleep cycle or when you hit a specific sleep duration.
There’s more customization if you want it. For example, you can set a specific Sleep Index Score and make sure you’re woken up at just the right time. You can even set recurring alarms for different days, which makes it super flexible for your routine.
What makes the feature particularly thoughtful is its ability to detect your lightest sleep phase within your chosen wake-up window. This approach mimics the body’s natural tendencies, helping you wake up feeling rested. The smartphone app uses soothing sounds and music to gently guide you into the day, leveraging the Ring’s real-time sleep tracking data.
How it all works
Since the Ultrahuman Ring Air doesn’t have a speaker or vibration motor, the app does all the heavy lifting. The Ring tracks your sleep in real time and sends the data to the app, which then wakes you up using your phone. As mentioned, you can pick from a variety of sounds and even set multiple alarms if you need them.
It’s a clever setup, even if some users might wish the Ring could handle this on its own. Still, the execution is solid, and it feels like a feature that’s been well thought out.
Hopefully we will have a Ultrahuman Ring Air 2 in the near future which will be able to do all of this without requiring the smartphone app – either by emitting sound or having a vibration motor inside its body.
For now, though, this update is a nice step forward. If you’ve been looking for a better way to wake up that works with your sleep goals, give the Smart Alarm a try. Just remember to update your app first. Some (but not all) users are seeing it both on iOS and Android. I checked this morning and the update was available on my Android phone.
