Theragun meets Garmin in smart recovery debut at CES 2025
Therabody has just unveiled Coach, an AI-powered recovery platform. It works with Garmin smartwatches to give you personalized recovery tips in real time. Whether it’s a Theragun suggestion after a tough run or a recovery plan tailored to your sleep and stress levels, this platform promises to make bouncing back a whole lot easier.
A while back I reviewed one of Therabody’s massage guns. They are often seen as top-tier in their category. Now, Theragun is stepping up its game with a fresh software upgrade.
Coach by Therabody is the latest addition to the company’s app, launching in beta with some serious tech behind it. By pulling data from Garmin devices and popular platforms like Apple Health and Strava, it adjusts recommendations based on your activity, health stats, and fitness goals.
It’s not just generic advice either. Therabody’s sports science expertise backs every suggestion, whether it’s using a Theragun for sore quads or tweaking your routine to improve recovery.
A new partnership
This new platform is also a product of Therabody’s partnership with Garmin. With Garmin’s detailed metrics, including heart rate, stress, sleep, and Body Battery energy levels, the app goes beyond surface-level insights. Instead, it helps craft recovery routines that fit your exact needs. Garmin’s Vice President of Global Consumer Marketing, Susan Lyman, calls it a perfect pairing of data and recovery know-how, giving athletes tools to perform better and recover smarter.
John Solomon, Therabody’s Chief Marketing Officer, stresses that the platform isn’t about using AI just because it’s trendy. It’s about solving real problems for people who want to stay active and recover faster. The app is designed to be practical, not flashy. Its goal is to make make it easier to understand how your body reacts to workouts and how recovery impacts performance.
Right now, Coach is all about the Theragun. But Therabody has plans to expand it to other devices in their lineup. It’s a small step, starting in beta within their app, but for anyone serious about fitness and recovery, it’s a step worth checking out.
