Luxury smart rings from Ultrahuman come with a hefty price tag

Ultrahuman just launched its Rare collection, a line of fancy smart rings starting at over $1,900. Unveiled at CES 2025, these rings try to blend high-end jewelry with health-tracking tech. But with a price like that, you’ve got to wonder—are they really worth it? Especially since wearable tech usually feels old after a year or two.

We have reviewed the Ultrahuman Ring Air a while ago, and that one seems well worth its $300 or so price-tag. It is one of the more notable competitors to Oura Ring, along the likes of RingConn, Amazfit Helio and the Samsung Galaxy ring.

Now we are getting something new from Ultrahuman.

A design for the desert and beyond

You could say the Rare collection takes inspiration from desert landscapes, with models called Desert Rose, Dune, and Desert Snow. Each one is crafted entirely from premium materials like 18k gold, 19k rose gold, or PT950 platinum. Ultrahuman isn’t skimping on quality here. The gold is certified by the London Bullion Market Association, and the platinum meets the strict PT950 standard, which means it’s 95% pure.

The rings certainly look luxurious. Desert Rose shows off the warm glow of rose gold, Dune sticks to classic 18k gold, and Desert Snow’s platinum finish gives it a sleek, modern feel. But while these designs make a statement, they’re still smart rings underneath it all.

Which means they come, essentially, with the same features you’d expect from Ultrahuman’s standard models. They track your heart rate, sleep, stress levels, and skin temperature, all of which sync with the Ultrahuman app. So nothing new on that front.

And as with their other offerings, the app is completely free to use—there are no subscription fees. That’s a nice alternative compared to other brands like Oura, where ongoing costs can add up. But even with this, you have to ask: will the sensors and tech inside these rings still feel cutting-edge in a year or two? Wearable tech evolves so quickly that even high-end gadgets like this can feel outdated fast.

Is it worth the price?

With prices ranging from about $1,900 to $2,300, these rings are far more expensive than Ultrahuman’s other models—or most of the competition, for that matter. They’ll be sold at exclusive stores like Selfridges in London and Printemps in Paris, with plans to expand to New York and Milan later.

Ultrahuman clearly wants these rings to appeal to a niche market: people who care about both high-end materials and wearable tech. But that market might also wonder if they’re getting a good deal. A luxury smart ring sounds great, but the tech inside isn’t much different from what’s already out there.

Ultrahuman’s Rare collection makes a bold play for the luxury crowd. The materials are top-notch, and the no-subscription model is a smart move. But at those prices, you’re paying a lot for a gadget that might not keep pace with the next wave of innovation.
