VIV Ring debuts with unique sleep aid sound feature
At CES 2025, South Korean VIV Health is attempting to introduce something unique: the VIV Ring. It’s the world’s first smart ring that comes with Generative Sleep Aid Sound, a feature designed to help you sleep better by creating personalized soundscapes.
So what’s it all about? Let’s dive in.
The sleep boost you didn’t know you needed
VIV Health’s VIV Ring does what typical smart rings do. So all the basics like tracking heart rate and oxygen levels, along with measuring things like stress levels and heart rate variability. Plus, there’s AI to give you predictions and insights into your health. So far, nothing trailblazing.
But things do get a bit more interesting. On top of the usual offerings, the VIV Ring features something called Generative Sleep Aid Sound. This takes a very different approach to helping you sleep.
The system uses natural sounds—think ocean waves, forest rain, and birdsong. These aren’t just for background noise. They’re combined with AI to analyze your sleep data and create soundscapes specifically designed to improve your sleep quality.
The idea is that as your ring tracks your biometric data, it will generate sounds that match your personal sleep patterns. So, instead of using generic sounds, it’s all about what works best for you. The press release doesn’t actually make it very clear, but it’s a safe guess that the audio is emitted by the smartphone app.
As for the ring itself, it’s got a sleek design. The concave centre helps prevent scratches, and the diamond-cut edges give it a nice, polished look.
Launching at CES 2025 and what’s next
VIV Health is launching the VIV Ring at the Las Vegas tech gathering, which is a big deal for the company. They’ve already started mass production, and the ring will be available for sale in February 2025. For now, the Generative Sleep Aid Sound feature is available in a basic form, but the company plans to release a more customized version later in the year.
But VIV Health isn’t just stopping at wellness. The company is working with Gangnam Severance Hospital to test the VIV Ring for use as a medical device. Later in 2025, they plan to launch the VIV Pro, a medical-grade version of the ring that can measure blood pressure and detect atrial fibrillation. Not that will be really interesting as we are yet to see a ring with those features.

For now, though, the VIV Ring looks like a interesting option for anyone looking to take a more personalized approach to their health and sleep. The price of the smart ring is yet to be confirmed, but you can join a member’s waitlist on the company’s website. This will bag you 10% off the eventual retail price.
