CES 2025 highlights Redmi’s latest smartwatch and earbuds
Xiaomi has kicked off 2025 in style with its CES debut of its latest timepiece – the Redmi Watch 5, along with the Buds 6 series. The smartwatch, already a success in China, is now set to captivate a global audience with its largest-ever AMOLED display. Complementing this is the Buds 6 series, which promises immersive audio experiences and adaptive noise cancellation.
The Redmi Watch 5: Bold design meets practicality
Let’s begin with the Redmi Watch 5, which has been available in China since November. Now, the device is expanding beyond its local market.
Xiaomi’s latest wearable features their largest display to date, a 2.07-inch AMOLED screen that surpasses its predecessor’s 1.97 inches. Offering 1500 nits of brightness, a crisp 324 PPI resolution, and a smooth 60Hz refresh rate, the display promises vibrant and clear visuals. Its ultra-thin 2mm bezels enhance the sleek design, achieving an impressive 82% screen-to-body ratio. Completing the premium look is an aluminum alloy frame paired with a functional and refined crown.
Under the hood, the watch comes with a built-in 5-system GNSS, which is handy for tracking outdoor activities across its 150+ sports modes—including swimming, thanks to its 5ATM water resistance. Health features get a boost with enhanced heart rate monitoring, improved sleep tracking, and SpO₂ measurements. These are powered by a self-designed algorithm that claims to increase accuracy by up to 10%, with heart rate monitoring specifically seeing a 5.2% improvement over the previous model. There’s also an upgraded linear motor that provides precise yet quiet haptic feedback.
This smartwatch doesn’t compromise on battery life, either. It offers an outstanding 24-day battery life on typical usage, thanks to a lightweight operating system.
On the connectivity side, the Watch 5 supports Bluetooth 5.3, allowing you to make calls directly from your wrist using its dual-microphone noise reduction. Add let’s not forget the ability to pair earbuds and store music, which makes the device a reliable companion for workouts or travels.
The smartwatch will be available for purchase starting January 15th. In the UK, it is priced at £89.99, which is approximately $110. We are currently testing out the device, so keep an eye out for our detailed hands-on review later in January.
Redmi Buds 6: A balance of style and sound
There is something, as well, for those who prioritize audio. The Redmi Buds 6 have arrived, offering a blend of convenience and sound quality.
These lightweight earbuds come in three colors—Cloud White, Coral Green, and Night Black—and offer up to 10 hours of playback on a single charge, with the case extending that to an impressive 42 hours. A quick 10-minute charge provides four hours of listening, perfect for busy schedules.
Equipped with dual drivers, including a 12.4mm titanium-diaphragm dynamic driver and a 5.5mm PZT tweeter, the Buds 6 produce rich, detailed audio. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) with 49dB depth eliminates distractions, while adaptive transparency modes ensure awareness when needed. Wind noise resistance and dual-microphone AI noise reduction are there to allow you to make calls in challenging conditions.
Redmi Buds 6 Pro: Audio tailored for immersion
Rounding off the Redmi wearable tech news today is a snazzier pair of headphones. The Pro version of Redmi Buds 6 introduces a coaxial triple-driver system, including dual tweeters and an 11mm titanium-diaphragm driver for enhanced bass and treble. Hi-Res Audio certification ensures precise audio reproduction, and dimensional audio with head tracking makes these earbuds a strong choice for gaming or watching videos.
The Pro version also offers up to 55dB of noise cancellation and a multi-level ANC mode that adapts to the environment. Battery performance is slightly lower than the standard model, with 9.5 hours on a single charge and 36 hours with the case. However, its richer sound profile and additional features make it a notable upgrade over the vanilla version.
