Amazfit Active 2 Premium delayed again for European launch

The Premium version of the Amazfit Active 2 was supposed to land in Europe in early April. That timeline has quietly slipped, and customers who enquire about availability on the Zepp Health website are now being told to expect availability at the end of April or possibly early May.

This is a bit of a letdown for those who’ve been holding out for the upgraded version. Especially since the standard model is already available across Europe and priced quite reasonably. In some countries it is still listed as “sold out” for the Premium on the official site, though technically it hasn’t even gone on sale yet in that region.

What’s different about the Premium model

Amazfit Active 2 Premium is a slightly better version of the vanilla model. As noted in our hands-on review, it replaces the standard model’s tempered glass with sapphire glass for better scratch resistance. The casing is stainless steel rather than plastic, and it comes bundled with both leather and silicone straps. It also adds NFC support, which is something the standard version lacks.

Apart from that there are no other differences. The features are the same. And you get the identical 1.32-inch AMOLED display, the new BioTracker PPG 6.0 sensor, Zepp OS 4.5, and battery life that can stretch up to 10 days.

Is it worth waiting for?

If you’re in Europe and tempted by the standard Active 2, it really depends on how much you value the upgrades. For runners, hikers, and anyone outdoorsy, the reliable GPS and offline maps make either version a solid choice. A recent firmware update has also added offline music storage.

But if you’re after a more polished look and want NFC payments, the Premium may be worth the wait. At $129, it’s only a slight bump in price for what you get in return. Still, with the delay stretching a few more weeks, some buyers may decide not to wait.

To remind, those in the US have been able to purchase the Premium model since late February. Hopefully, European customers will be able to do the same fairly soon.
