Polar hints at a new Grit X for smaller wrists

Polar has been drip-feeding hints about its next watch, and the latest updates give us a clearer look. The photo is now less blurred, showing what looks like a rugged design with a slimmer build, along with a new tagline points directly to the Grit series.

A clearer image and a subtle message

It’s still not a full reveal, but it’s clear enough now to make out the overall look (see image above). The silhouette and strap design are of outdoor watch, but this one looks like it might be built for a slightly different crowd.

The clue dropped today says “The X you will never forget.” That doesn’t confirm much, but it definitely reinforces the idea that this is a Grit series device. The real shift, we think, is that it might be aimed at those who found the Grit X2 Pro too chunky.

Polar’s hints along with the proportions in the image point to something more compact. Of course, it’s hard to be sure of anything until we see the official dimensions, but this could be a version of the Grit X that fits smaller wrists.

A proper Grit, just more wearable

The latest addition to the series, the Grit X2 Pro, landed in March 2024. So a new generation of that one seems highly unlikely.

But a variant of the same, only built in a more wearable form makes sense. The timing is interesting too. With Global Running Day coming up on June 4th, this could be a way to tie an outdoor-focused device into the running community without going all in on the Vantage series.

There’s still no name or no confirmed specs. But at this point, Polar isn’t really hiding the direction. Daily updates and a focused marketing line like this don’t happen by accident. It’s a slow drip, and it’s meant to build anticipation.

We expect the official reveal on June 4th. This is when the giveaway closes for a chance to win the new device. Polar has listed the prize as a watch worth 479 euros, which gives us a bit more info about the upcoming model.
