Amazfit Balance 2 gets rucking mode and new BioCharge tools

Firmware version 3.35.0.5 is now rolling out to the Amazfit Balance 2, bringing new activity modes for rucking and mountain hiking, along with expanded BioCharge tracking and screenshot support. Early reports suggest the update has started arriving to users in the US.

Rucking and mountain hiking modes arrive

One of the main additions is a new workout mode for rucking. This tracks backpack-loaded walking, which has grown in popularity as a functional fitness activity. The Balance 2 now includes load tracking for this mode, something not previously available on the device. We knew the feature was coming as we spotted it in our APK teardown back in October.

Likewise, there’s also a dedicated “mountain hiking” profile that aims to offer more precise tracking for activities involving elevation gain. Unlike standard walking or hiking modes, this one appears tuned for varied uphill terrain ranging from steady climbs to more casual ascents.

BioCharge trend graph and a morning card

The other important change is to the BioCharge feature. Users get a 24-hour trend view, allowing for better insight into fluctuations across the day. This is paired with a new morning card that gives a snapshot of your BioCharge status when you wake up.

These updates should make it easier to understand short-term recovery trends and integrate BioCharge into daily decision-making. The broader idea is to give users a quick sense of how recharged or depleted they might be, similar to readiness scores on other platforms.

Screenshot support and small interface tweaks

Beyond that, users will get the ability to take screenshots by pressing the crown and lower button together. Images are auto-saved to the paired phone, so there’s no need to dig through the watch UI afterward. This mirrors a similar update that arrived recently on the T-Rex 3 Pro.

Users will also notice a new silent icon in the Control Center, providing a faster way to check if alerts are muted. Notification behaviour has been tweaked as well, with a cleaner return to the watch face after clearing all alerts from the center.

Outdoor running now consumes less power thanks to optimisations in the algorithm. And the weather widget gets a better refresh system and improved data source handling.\
