Exclusive: Sweden listing and Korea certification hint at Garmin Vivosmart 6 arrival
A mystery Garmin device has popped up in Korea’s regulatory database under model number A04986, filed on November 3. Paired with a live placeholder page for the Vivosmart 6 on Garmin’s Swedish site and further clues, these might be the first signs of the upcoming fitness tracker.
A new fitness device
The model number A04986 hasn’t surfaced in FCC, Bluetooth SIG or Wi-Fi Alliance filings yet, but the Korean entry is often an early sign of an impending release. What makes this one interesting is how it is classified.
Garmin tends to label its higher-end devices, like the Fenix, Epix and Forerunner ranges, as “Smart Watches” or “Low Power Wireless Devices” due to their broader radio tech stacks. A listing under “Fitness Product” usually refers to simpler devices with more basic connectivity, such as fitness bands and heart rate accessories.
Vivosmart models have consistently used this label in past filings. While internal model numbers like A049xx do not always reveal the device type, the category and timing make it more likely this is a wrist-worn tracker than a chest strap.
Due for an upgrade
The Vivosmart 5 came out in April 2022. It offers a lightweight design, touchscreen OLED display, and essentials like heart rate, SpO2 and sleep tracking. But it lacks built-in GPS and other more advanced tools, which makes it feel more like a secondary tracker. So there’s clearly lots of room for improvement.
In the past few years, the market has shifted. Slim fitness bands now face pressure from budget smartwatches offering more screen space and richer metrics. Garmin has been focused on high-end and mid-tier watches over the past two years, but a refreshed fitness band with newer sensors, battery improvements and a better screen would help round out the lineup.
Adding to the evidence, we also spotted a placeholder webpage for the Vivosmart 6 on Garmin’s official Swedish domain. It currently doesn’t contain any product details or images, but its existence strongly suggests that a launch is being prepared. Garmin has used similar pre-release staging pages in the past, sometimes weeks before a product becomes official.
While this doesn’t confirm the hardware model number directly, the appearance of both the Korean RRA listing and this Swedish page within a short timeframe reinforces the idea that the Vivosmart 6 is nearly ready for release. It also fits Garmin’s typical pattern of building out localized assets ahead of a global rollout.
Adding to the evidence, we also spotted in Google search a reference to the device on the Garmin Indonesia site. Unfortunately, the text ends after “Vivosmart 6 is a stylish sports watch that is suitable for men and women. Equipped with built-in GPS and more than 30 sports applications, this watch can…”
Still under wraps, but not for long
At this point, Garmin hasn’t mentioned anything officially about a Vivosmart refresh. There are no press leaks or promotional material hinting at a release. But the evidence we uncovered suggests that it may be preparing for launch.
CES 2026 in early January is a likely reveal window, especially since Garmin sometimes uses that event for fitness-focused launches. If this is indeed the Vivosmart 6, it may appear alongside other consumer health devices early in the new year.
