Amazfit T-Rex 3 gets update 4.8.3.5 with new running metrics and rowing support
Amazfit T-Rex 3 is getting firmware version 4.8.3.5, a 17.14MB update that puts most of the focus on workouts, navigation and data pages. It adds per workout display controls, rowing machine support, new running metrics and a much cleaner way to manage training settings.
Workout settings get a proper redesign
The biggest visible change is how workout settings are organised. Zepp Health has removed the old “training assistant” and “more” sections and merged everything into one new workout settings page. Alerts, data pages, auto pause, auto lap, targets, loaded weight, screen lock and 3D data are now grouped in one place. Up to now they’ve been split across multiple menus.
There are also several new controls. Always on Display, text to speech, pause button behaviour and Do Not Disturb during workouts can now be configured separately for each sport profile. So you can keep the screen always on during outdoor running, for example, but disable it for strength training or another session where you do not need it.
Better support for navigation and routes
Navigation also gets several additions. New options like “Explore nearby” and “Create out and back route” are now easier to access. Route tools are also available directly from the workout map screen.
When you open the map during a workout and press the menu button, there is now a dedicated navigation section. From there, you can quickly access saved routes, your current location, back to start, nearby exploration and round trip route creation without leaving the workout.
There is also a new navigation data class inside workout data pages. This includes fields like remaining distance, climb and descent to the next point, along with remaining ascent and descent to the final destination.
These only work when following a loaded route, which makes sense. If you are just recording a normal activity without navigation, the watch has no way of knowing what terrain is ahead.
Zepp Health has also cleaned up some wording in this area. Labels like “direction to start” and “forward path” have been renamed to clearer terms such as “starting point.”
New tools for runners and heart rate tracking
Outdoor Run and Trail Run now support more equivalent pace metrics, including grade adjusted pace options. Users can add current lap GAP, last lap GAP and incline adjusted pace fields to their data screens.
Heart rate zones also get a more visual update. During workouts, users can now enable a heart rate zone arc, a coloured curved indicator that shows the current zone live on screen.
VO2 Max calculations are also supposed to be more accurate after this update. This was a common frustration before, so this fix could matter more than it sounds.
A few more bits and pieces
Rowing machine workouts now support connection to third-party rowing machines. After connecting metrics such as power and distance can be shown.
There are also smaller additions like a new toggle for watch face status indicators. This lets users decide whether icons for background workouts, timers or stopwatches appear at the top of the main watch face.
For HIIT, HYROX, hybrid and cross training in AMRAP mode, timer duration now extends to 99 minutes instead of the previous 60. That gives a lot more room for longer structured sessions.
And that’s pretty much it. Version 4.8.3.5 looks like a genuinely useful update. Especially for people who rely heavily on training profiles and route navigation rather than just basic fitness tracking.
