Huawei Watch Air moves closer to launch
Huawei looks to have another smartwatch on the way, and this one comes with a new name. The Huawei Watch Air has appeared in Indonesia’s Komdigi certification database as model KTA-B19, giving us the first solid regulatory evidence that the device is real.
The filing confirms the name and model number
The Indonesian entry lists PT Huawei Tech Investment as the applicant and Huawei Device Co., Ltd. as the manufacturer. More importantly, it classifies KTA-B19 as a smartwatch and attaches the Huawei Watch Air marketing name directly to it.
The Watch Air name had actually already started circulating earlier this month. There was talk Huawei was preparing a watch under that name for a possible 2026 release. But there was very little behind the claim beyond the name itself.
Now we have something much more concrete. Regulatory certification that confirms this is a real smartwatch rather than just a name sitting in the rumor mill.
We’ve seen this pattern with Huawei before. The Watch D3 first appeared in Indonesian certification records under two model numbers on August 11, 2026. Huawei officially launched the watch on September 2, 2026. So there were 22 days between the first certification and launch.
That doesn’t mean the Watch Air will follow exactly the same timetable. But a regulatory appearance generally puts it much further along than an early leak.
So what is Huawei Watch Air?
As far as what Huawei Watch Air actually is – that is the interesting part. We don’t really know.
The “Air” name naturally makes you think of something thinner or lighter, but I’d be careful about taking that too literally. The regulatory filing has not revealed anything beyond the name.
It would make some sense for Huawei to carve out another design-focused model. The company’s smartwatch range has become pretty crowded, with the Watch GT 7 series covering the mainstream sports-watch segment, the Watch series sitting further up the range and the Watch Fit 5 series offering a slimmer rectangular alternative.
That leaves plenty of room for Huawei to experiment. A Watch Air could potentially sit somewhere between those categories, perhaps with a stronger emphasis on weight and everyday wear.
There is also no indication yet whether this will be a single model or the beginning of another Huawei smartwatch family. KTA-B19 is the only model number tied to the Watch Air name that has surfaced so far.
As for a possible launch date, there is an outside chance Huawei could introduce the Watch Air before the end of this year. But with Indonesia still the only regulator where the device has appeared, an early 2027 launch currently looks more likely.
