CMF Watch 3 Pro vs CMF Watch Pro 2: Specs & features comparison

CMF’s next budget smartwatch is official following a flurry of leaks. Watch 3 Pro looks like a proper upgrade with a larger display, dual-band GPS and some AI smarts. But it also comes with a higher price-tag.

So let’s put this upcoming iteration versus its predecessor.

A larger display and improved location tracking

Watch 3 Pro packs a circular form with a single button on the right. So not change there. The case uses an aluminium alloy midframe, and the look is in line with the Pro 2. There might be some refinements to the bezels or the button feel, but it’s hard to say for sure at this stage.

A definite upgrade is that the Watch 3 Pro bumps the screen size to 1.43 inches. That’s a touch bigger than the 1.32 inch panel on the Pro 2, offering a 10% improvement in the screen-to-body ratio. It’s still AMOLED, and the listing says it supports automatic brightness adjustment and has always-on support.

More significantly, the new model supports dual-band satellite positioning. That means GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS and Beidou are all included again, but with better signal accuracy in cities or under trees. The Pro 2 supported the same systems but without the dual-band layer.

Battery life is quoted as “up to 13 days,” a small bump over the 11-day claim for the Watch Pro 2. The previous model also offered 9 days with heavy use and up to 46 days in power-saving mode. Charging time is about 100 minutes.

Same sensors and smart functions, plus a new coach

Sensors remain unchanged across both models. You’re still getting an accelerometer, heart rate monitor, SpO2, and ambient light sensor. But there’s a new four-channel heart rate sensor that offers improved accuracy. Microphone and speaker support is also there, but NFC and music storage are still off the table.

Watch 3 Pro supports over 130 sports modes. That’s up from 110 on the Pro 2. A “custom running coach” and post-run summaries are also said to be part of the package. For example, the watch can predict your 5K and 10K endurance. That suggests some effort to add value on the fitness side.

Also worth a mention is ChatGPT integration, providing you with answers to your voice prompts right on your wrist. Beyond that there’s a built-in voice recorder that will auto-transcribe for you, along with an “Essential News” tool and 120 custom watch faces.

Same strategy, higher ambitions

The Watch 3 Pro sticks with CMF’s formula: low-cost timepiece, decent feature set. The new one retails at around $100, which is a solid step up from the $70 launch price of the Pro 2. But the extra screen space, dual-band GPS and battery improvements help explain the bump. You can choose from Orange, Light Grey and Dark Grey options on the company’s website.
