Amazfit Falcon 2 hinted at in Zepp Health app code
A dig through the latest Zepp Health Android app has turned up something interesting. Buried in the code is a string called SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025, which looks like it could be pointing to a successor to the Amazfit Falcon.
We spotted it in the APK of the Zepp Health app 10.0.8 which was released a few days ago. Sitting inside the code is a cluster of internal support flags that seem to map a bunch of devices the platform recognises.
The exact strings found in the app read:
SUPPORT_BIND_COLOGNE
SUPPORT_BIND_Cheetah2
SUPPORT_BIND_DUBLIN
SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025
SUPPORT_BIND_GENEVA
SUPPORT_BIND_LUMI
SUPPORT_BIND_MAKALU
Flags like these tend to act as internal pairing markers, letting the Zepp Health app identify specific hardware. They have a habit of showing up before any public announcement, simply because app support has to be ready before a product goes live.
Also sitting there is a reference to the unreleased Cheetah 2. A Pro version of that device leaked a few days ago.
The other names in there are most likely internal identifiers that Zepp Health uses before a final product name gets locked in. It is pretty common for companies to lean on city names or project codenames in firmware and app code.
Falcon may finally be due for a refresh
The original Amazfit Falcon arrived in October 2022 as a premium multi sport GPS watch. Zepp Health positioned it as a high end training device with a titanium unibody construction, sapphire crystal display protection and a 20 ATM water resistance rating.
Despite that positioning, the Falcon line has not received a successor since its debut. Over the past few years other parts of the Amazfit lineup have evolved with new models and hardware updates, while the Falcon has remained unchanged.
The SUPPORT_BIND_FALCON2025 reference may point to something being in the works. The wording throws up an interesting question though. That “2025” in the string could mean the device was originally earmarked for launch last year, which would suggest the project has slipped or been pushed back on the release schedule.
Launch likely still months away
One thing is still missing from the picture. Neither a Falcon successor nor the Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro have turned up in any regulatory certification databases that we can find.
Those filings tend to surface several months before a smartwatch hits the market, as companies have to register wireless hardware with regulators before anything ships. The fact that neither watch has shown up yet makes it pretty safe to say a launch is not around the corner. If both are still on the roadmap, the earliest realistic window is probably a few months out.
For now the APK find remains one of the few solid hints that Zepp Health may still have something planned for the Falcon line. Whether that turns out to be a true successor or something a little different is still anyone’s guess.
⚠️ An APK teardown helps predict features or devices that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features or devices may not make it to a public release.
