Garmin MARQ Gen 3 spotted on official support pages

Looks like Garmin may have let something slip. The MARQ Gen 3 has popped up on several of the company’s Spanish-language support pages, even though Garmin hasn’t said a word about a new generation of its luxury smartwatches.

The discovery comes from Garmin Rumors. The timing is rather fitting, with the second-generation MARQ watches having launched exactly four years ago, on October 11, 2022.

Garmin is already listing MARQ Gen 3

The most obvious reference appears on Garmin’s Spanish support page for Garmin Explore compatibility. Under the MARQ category, the company lists the original series, MARQ Gen 2, along with the unreleased MARQ Gen 3.

It is not the only appearance, either. The same name has been spotted in two other Spanish-language support articles, one covering accessory connections and another explaining how to add weather locations to Garmin watches. The Explore compatibility listing also appears on Garmin’s regional support websites for Chile and Argentina.

The equivalent English-language support pages have not made the same change. So don’t go looking for them. Those continue to list MARQ Gen 2 as the latest generation.

Four years is a long time in smartwatch terms

The current MARQ range is getting rather old underneath its expensive exterior. Garmin launched the second generation in October 2022, introducing AMOLED displays, touchscreen controls, Grade 5 titanium cases and multi-band GPS.

The company has refreshed the collection since then, but largely through changes to materials rather than the underlying platform. In 2023, for example, Garmin introduced carbon fibre versions of the MARQ Athlete, Golfer and Commander. A Damascus steel version of the Adventurer followed in 2024.

Meanwhile, Garmin’s mainstream premium watches have moved forward considerably. The Fenix 9 family arrived in August, bringing updated hardware and software, while the Enduro 4 followed earlier this month with more storage and additional training tools.

That creates a slightly awkward situation for MARQ. Buyers are paying luxury-watch prices for designs and materials that still look premium, but the underlying technology belongs to an older generation of Garmin devices.

A third-generation collection would presumably address that gap. Garmin could bring MARQ closer to the Fenix 9 platform, while retaining the specialised versions aimed at athletes, golfers, pilots and outdoor users. Exactly which features would carry over remains unknown, however.

There is also the question of pricing. MARQ Gen 2 started at $1,900 when Garmin announced it in 2022, with the most expensive original model costing $2,400. The company subsequently pushed further upmarket with its carbon editions, so nobody should expect Gen 3 to be cheap.

We recently looked at the Garmin devices expected in late 2026 and 2027, including tactix 9 and several other products with evidence behind them. MARQ Gen 3 can now be added to that watchlist.
