Huawei Honor Band A2 revealed with OLED display and heart rate sensor
Huawei has unveiled its latest fitness tracker, the Honor Band A2. An update to last year’s $15 Band A1, the device sports an OLED screen and a heart rate sensor, making it much more useful than before.
The wearable actually comes from Huawei’s spin-off company – Honor. As the images show, the A2 features a fairly sporty look. The strap has different patterns and comes in Black, Green, White and Red colors. The company has elected to make the fitness device IP67 water-resistant, meaning its only splash proof. It’s also shock-resistant to drops at 1.5 meters.
The new OLED display measures 0.96-inches and provides info on exercise and sleep. As mentioned, the major addition here is the optical heart rate sensor. With a battery life of 9 days with normal use and 18 days in standby, we suspect heart rate tracking is not continuous unless you are exercising.
The fitness device will give you a nudge when you’ve been sitting for too long and has a special mode for tracking bicycle rides. You also get support for notifications such as incoming calls, missed calls, and text messages when connected to an Android or iOS smartphone over Bluetooth.
Huawei Honor Band A2 is priced at 199 yuan or around $29, and will go on sale in China from June 9th. No word yet on international availability.
