IFA 2020 will be not be the same as in the previous years. The coronavirus pandemic has forced organisers to reassess the format of Europe’s largest tech gathering. The event will still go ahead (between September 3rd and 5th), but it will be a virtual gathering combined with only a few physical spaces.

One of these will be reserved for the IFA Global Press Conference. Some 800 journalists are expected in Berlin, along with many others online. Journalists at the live event will get to speak with exhibitors and experts.

Honor has announced it will hold its press conference in Berlin on September 4th. The theme will be “Expand Your Smart Life”. The company says it is launching a portfolio of products including “smart wearables, personal computers and tablets” – but it has not gone into specifics.

We don’t know exactly what Honor-branded smartwatches or fitness wearables we might get. The Economic Commission for Europe has recently certified the Honor Watch GS Pro so that looks like a possible candidate. But nothing is known yet as far as specs of the device.

Honor is a brand owned by Huawei Technologies. Founded in 2013 it predominantly focuses on manufacturing affordable smartphones. In the past few years it has expanded into wearable tech. There have been several iterations of the Honor Band as well as the Honor Watch Magic and Magic 2.

The last on this list was released in the US and Europe last year. The fitness focused device has a circular display and comes with built-in GPS. The watch uses the same LiteOS software Huawei uses for Watch GT 2 so has excellent battery life.

In less than a month we will have all the details on new Honor wearables. Other wearable tech manufacturers expected to attend IFA include Huawei, Realme, LG, TCL and others.
