The newly unveiled Huawei Watch Fit delivers a wide viewing experience
A brand new smartwatch called Huawei Watch FIT has been unveiled. It comes with the standard fitness tracking sensors, built-in GPS, an AMOLED display and a design that differs from other devices in Huawei’s lineup.
Images of the watch had leaked a few weeks ago so we knew what to expect. Other details and renders were revealed in Huawei’s patents with EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) a few months ago.
What’s interesting is that along with the smartwatch filings was a patent for a fitness band with a “traditional” slim, flexible curved screen design. This makes it likely we will see that wearable soon, as well.
Huawei Watch Fit: design specifications
The new smartwatch looks very distinct from Huawei’s current wearables lineup. The company is obviously looking to branch out, at least design-wise.
The timepiece adopts a very Appelesque design but with a more elongated squarish form-factor. The slightly curved AMOLED panel measures 1.64-inches and has a resolution of 456 x 280 pixels (326ppi). That should provide plenty of space for following fitness activity statistics and reading smartphone messages.
The look is worlds apart from the circular design of the Watch GT and GT2, the company’s flagship wearables. Images show four bright color ways and a watch with thick bezels and a single physical button on the side.
On the underside are two pins for charging located above the heart rate sensor. The watch also comes an accelerometer, barometer, blood oxygen sensor, built-in GPS and an ambient light sensor. In terms of exercise it will keep tabs on 11 professional sports modes including walking, running, indoor/outdoor cycling and more. Swimming is also on this list thanks to 5 ATM water-resistance.
Other than that, you get 85 custom workout mode along with 12 guided workouts with an animated personal trainer covering 44 posture demonstrations.

Battery life is a pretty decent 10 days on a single charge. A quick five-minute top-up can sustain the smartwatch for 24 hours, while just half an hour on the charger will bump it up to 70%. Huawei says the wearable works with Android 5.0 and iOS 9.0 or above.
This is a nice new watch which offers a pretty good set of features. Extras on top of the fitness and health tracking are music storage and the usual smartphone notifications.
