Huawei Watch GT Cyber with a removable display to launch next week

Huawei took to social media to confirm the launch date of its next wearable. Watch GT Cyber will be officially unveiled on November 2nd. The device packs an innovative design featuring what looks to be a removable display.

Huawei has teased its next smartwatch offering on Weibo (via @RODENT950). Mentions of the device have leaked in the previous months. But this is the first official confirmation and image of the upcoming timepiece. The device is slated to launch alongside the Pocket S foldable smartphone.

Huawei Watch GT Cyber – a smartwatch designed to be different

The announcement poster does not tell us much about the technical specs. But it does reveal something that doesn’t look like a typical smart timepiece.

The word “Cyber” in the name implies that there will be some futuristic elements to the thing. And the device is appropriately pictured alongside a futuristic, space-themed background. The teaser mentions the motto “Born to be different.”

Like other devices in Huawei’s GT series Cyber comes with a circular design and a crown on the right. But that’s where the similarity ends.

The watch in the poster image appears to have a removable dial. It is not clear, though, whether the screen is still teathered to the body or can be removed entirely. It is also worth noting, as this is just a teaser image it is best to reserve judgement on potential features until the official reveal. But it certainly does look interesting.

Also expected in the near future is the Huawei Watch GT 4. Whether that one lands at this side of the holiday period remains to be seen. Early January and CES 2023 in Las Vegas is also a great launch opportunity.

The third generation of Huawei’s flagship GT family has been around since October 2021. In March this year, the offering was extended to a Pro model. Improvements with that one come in the form of a titanium build and ECG functionality.

Huawei has held a presentation in June which showcased the new iteration of its heart rate module. The next frontier in Huawei health tracking will be blood sugar, lung function tracking, along with high altitude health management. We are not expecting next gen tech on Watch GT Cyber but are hoping to see some of this in 2023.

For reference, Huawei’s next hardware event commences at 19:00 CST, or 11:00 UTC on November 2nd. As things stand now, it is most like we will get Watch GT Cyber on that date, and GT 4 in early 2023. There’s still a lot to learn about Huawei’s next smartwatch so we are looking forward to next week’s reveal.
