Xiaomi releases Smart Band 8 Pro Global into the wild

Xiaomi has announced global availability of Smart Band 8 Pro. The device has been available in the company’s local market of China for a few months now.

The wearable was launched at the opening of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona earlier today. The device comes alongside the Xiaomi Watch S3 and Xiaomi Watch 2. Also unveiled were the Xiaomi 14 Series and Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4.

Comparing the Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro and Non-Pro Editions

The Pro edition distinguishes itself from the non-Pro version with a smartwatch-like design, along with enhanced features and capabilities. It boasts a large 1.74-inch rectangular AMOLED display. This packs 600 nits luminosity and a 60Hz refresh rate that supports 16.7 million colours and an always-on feature.

In terms of personalization, the Mi Band 8 Pro offers various replaceable straps, including silicone, metal, and leather. The device’s battery life is notable. The device keeps going for up to 14 days, or 6 days with the always-on display, and features a convenient magnetic charger.

Health and fitness tracking are advanced, with all the usuals. This includes heart rate, sleep patterns, SpO2 levels, breathing, and more. It includes 150 workout modes, some with auto-detection, providing comprehensive insights into physical well-being. The band is water-resistant and features GPS supporting five satellite systems. To remind, satellite connectivity is something the non-Pro version lacks.

Additional features include a voice assistant, camera and music controls, a flashlight, weather updates, smart notifications, call alerts, and integrated games. So a pretty feature-packed device, considering it is a budget wearable.

Price, benefits of waiting for global release

The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro offers a stylish and customisable look with a total of 10 band strap options. You can choose from durable and anti-bacterial TPU in Black, Grey, Yellow, Blue, or vibrant leather in White and Orange. For a unique touch, select a woven strap in Green, Purple, or Silver. Get your favorite TPU strap starting at just 69 Euros on Xiaomi’s website.

If you’re living outside China, hopefully you didn’t pull the trigger and purchase the local variant. The global edition comes with specific advantages tailored for international users, which we’ve explored in greater detail in a separate article.
